Earlier this week, Toyota announced a deep discount for its 2025 bZ4X electric SUV, with a starting price $6,000 less than the 2024 model. Now, that SUV’s nearly identical cousin with which it was co-developed is following suit, with the 2025 Subaru Solterra getting an even more dramatic price cut. The Solterra received some significant updates for the previous model year, so it carries over largely unchanged for 2025 with the exception of the new pricing, as well as a new Touring Onyx Edition with some visual upgrades to set it apart from the rest of the lineup.
2025 Solterra Starts At $38,495
The 2025 Subaru Solterra’s MSRP starts at $38,495 (before $1,420 in destination fees), which is a discount of $6,500 compared to 2024. The Limited shares its $6,500 price cut, but the biggest loser is the Touring trim, which knocks $7,000 off the price tag. Even the new line-topping Touring Onyx Edition starts below $45,000.

And, yes,
does still cost more than the Toyota bZ4X (which now starts at $37,070 before destination), despite the greater discount. The main reason for the cost differential between the two models is that, like every other Subaru apart from the BRZ, the Solterra comes with standard all-wheel drive.
The New Touring Onyx Trim
The Onyx treatment, though new to Solterra, might be familiar to Subaru fans and owners, as it is common to other models. It’s a cosmetic package, and in the Solterra, it adds a number of black elements to the exterior, including:
- Black 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels
- Gloss black front under guard
- Black roof pillars
- Black shoulder line trim
- Black door frame
- Black rear quarter window
- Black roof spoiler
- Black badging
The Onyx is also available with a two-tone exterior that’s unavailable in other trims. As for the interior, it gets black door accents, and black StarTex synthetic leather on the seats.
