There’s trouble a-brewin’ in Dearborn because Ford really seems to be struggling with vehicle quality these days. The automaker has faced a raft of recalls in recent months – years, really – and now the company just posted four more call-back actions, one of which applies to more than 100,000 popular vehicles from a number of model years. Fortunately, the three other recalls affect relatively few vehicles.

Potentially Faulty Front Seatbelts

In order of significance, 105,322 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator full-size three-row SUVs are being called back because of a potential issue with the belt pretensioners in the front seats. The problem is that these mechanisms can jam up, inadvertently lock, which prevents the safety restraint from extending or retracting. This creates an obvious – and significant – safety issue.

Vehicles affected by this issue are from the 2018 to 2020 model years. Ford says 88,329 Expeditions and 16,993 Navigators could be affected by this recall, though the good news is just 1 percent of these vehicles are estimated to have this issue. To correct the problem, Ford will inspect and replace any defective seatbelt retractors free of charge.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) campaign number for this action is 25V197000, while Ford’s internal designation is 25S31.

An Oily Issue

The next-largest recall of the four that Ford just posted affects far fewer vehicles, potentially just 4,163 copies of the Expedition and Navigator SUVs, and the F-150 pickup fitted with the powerful 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 engine. These truck-based products were built during the 2024 and ’25 model years.

The potential issue here is that some of the cup plugs in the engine block may be misaligned. This can lead to a severe and rapid oil leak, which, if unnoticed, could cause the engine to self-destruct because of a lack of internal lubrication. If this happens while driving, it can create a big safety risk. Oil spewing everywhere is also a fire hazard.

Ford estimates just 10 percent of those 4,163 vehicles are affected by this recall. Dealers will inspect and repair any models affected by this issue for free. The NHTSA campaign number for this recall is 25V198000 and Ford’s is 25S30.

Getting Hot Under The Collar

The Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker is recalling 152 copies of the small Transit Connect commercial van from the 2019 and ’20 model years for an engine-cooling issue. The problem here stems from something that was incorrectly addressed during a previous recall. The powertrain control module software has an engine cooling threshold that is too high, something that could cause the engine to overheat. It’s estimated that 100 percent of these 152 vehicles are impacted by this action.

The fix for this recall is relatively simple. Dealership technicians will install updated software on the engine control computer to prevent any overheating. Ford’s internal designation for this action is 25S32, and 25V196000 is the NHTSA campaign number.

An Incorrect Fuse Can Cause A Loss Of Driving Power

And finally, a mere 47 2025 F-150 hybrids are being recalled for a potentially incorrect fuse in their high-voltage battery junction boxes. An estimated 100 percent of those trucks are estimated to have this issue.

If the above-mentioned fuse fails, it can cause a sudden loss of motive power if the vehicle is being driven in electric-only mode, which could cause a crash, an obvious safety concern. To rectify this problem, technicians will simply swap out the incorrect 60-amp fuse for one rated at the proper 150 amps. This work should be done free of charge.

The NHTSA campaign number for this recall is 25V199000, while Ford’s internal designation is 25S29.

What To Do Next

Ford will soon be sending out formal recall notices to customers with vehicles affected by these actions, so keep an eye on your postbox for official documentation. Drivers with questions or concerns can contact the NHTSA safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit NHTSA.gov.
