Formula 1 cars used to sound really cool. They don’t anymore, but your chance to own a little piece of one of the best-sounding F1 engines of all time is coming up. Honda has announced it will launch a “memorabilia business,” that will offer “authentic, high-quality memorabilia, including signed merchandise, limited-edition collectibles and rare artifacts from the company’s storied legacy in motorsport.” Up first? Honda’s selection of parts from its RA100E V10 F1 engine. The V10 powered an incredible car, too.
Own Pieces Of Senna’s Engine
The RA100E V10 was used during the 1990 F1 season, piloted by none other than Ayrton Senna and Gerhard Berger. The engine was disassembled at Honda’s factory in Sakura City, Japan by the same engineers who originally built it, and, astonishingly, these folks are still with Honda 35 years later. The whole engine won’t be auctioned, but a vast selection of parts will. That includes the camshafts, cam covers, pistons, connecting rods, and more. Each will be put in a display case and sold with a certificate of authenticity from Honda Racing Corporation (HRC).
“We aim to make this a valuable business that allows fans who love F1, MotoGP and various other races to share in the history of Honda’s challenges in racing since the 1950s. Including our fans to own a part of Honda’s racing history is not intended to be a one-time endeavor, but rather a continuous business that we will nurture and grow.”
– HRC President Koji Watanabe
Honda will auction the parts off some time from now, so you’ll have time to get the money together for what’s sure to be some very expensive lots. The company says the slew of engine parts from Senna’s car will be sold off at auction during Monterey Car Week in August 2025.
TopSpeed’s Take
These won’t be cheap parts. On their own, Formula 1 cars have traditionally been extremely expensive to produce. The provenance behind these parts will surely add value as well. Senna’s ownership tends to add value to F1 memorabilia, and these will be no different.
