The Japanese company DAMD specializes in creating body kits and overhauling entire vehicles to give them a fresh appearance. Unlike many other modifiers, this business does not try to make its models look more aggressive. Instead, it often tries to evoke classic cars. For example, DAMD offers parts to make a Suzuki Jimny appear to be a Renault 5.

The 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon will kick off on January 10, and DAMD will be there in style. It’ll bring four vehicles to the show, two of which will be retro takes on current models.

A Honda WR-V That Looks Like A Jeep Cherokee XJ

The Honda WR-V is a subcompact crossover available in Japan since spring 2024. The only engine option is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder that drives the front wheels through a CVT.

DAMD replaces the front end with pieces to make the Honda look like a Jeep Cherokee XJ. It calls the vehicle the Reverb. There are square headlights on the outer corners, and a grille with six vertical slots dominates the center section. The new lower fascia has blocky elements that also recall the classic Cherokee’s look.

The modified WR-V’s flanks wear wood-grain decals, which show up on some older Cherokees. The little SUV rides on black monoblock wheels with chunky BF Goodrich All-Terrain.

Unfortunately, DAMD doesn’t modify the back of the WR-V. It would have been nice to see a set of vertical taillights like on the XJ Cherokee. The company also didn’t tweak the interior.

A Toyota Sienta With Round Headlights

The Toyota Sienta is a tiny minivan that’s for sale in Japan. DAMD gives the little car a retro redesign with a whimsical look that somewhat evokes the classic Mini. The tuner calls the result Stuart.

The standard Sienta is a fairly anonymous-looking vehicle with smooth styling that blends into traffic. DAMD’s Stuart features a circular headlight on the outer edges of the hood. The company also replaces the standard grille with a hexagonal unit.

DAMD leaves the Sienta’s side largely alone. It adds a monochrome British Union Jack flag decal to a trim panel near the tail. Like with the tuned WR-V, the tuner leaves the rear alone.

And A Few More DAMD Modified Cars

DAMD’s two other vehicles for Tokyo Auto Salon are a modified Honda N-Box, which the company calls Rodney, and a Daihatsu Taft, which goes by Lucky. Both body kits give the base models new front ends.

TopSpeed’s Take

Turning a small Honda WR-V into a Jeep Cherokee-inspired SUV is a wild idea, but it looks good in this case. Similarly, overhauling a Toyota Sienta with inspiration from the Mini is fascinating. Even if there’s no sign that either of these models is coming to the United States, we like to see what tuners such as DAMD can come up with.
