Faraday Future has confirmed that it will begin leasing its flagship FF91 luxury e-SUV in New York soon, marking the first official operations for the Californian independent on the East Coast of North America. Faraday has stated that a ‘2.0’ edition of its flagship FF 91 will enter the New York EV market, and will likely be joined later by “potential future FX models.” This comes swiftly after news that Faraday will also open an office in New York office alongside its headquarters in Los Angeles in a bid to shore up additional customers and investors.

Flexible Lease Terms For Only 300 FF 91 2.0s

Leasing of Faraday’s FF 91 will be done “through a strategic relationship,” though no details have been provided as to the partner’s identity. Faraday is however keen to retain the exclusivity of its ‘2.0’ luxury e-SUV, of which only 300 were due to be made, with flexible lease terms and a tailored package for its East Coast customers.

“The East Coast market has always been on our radar, and we undertook due diligence research before our IPO back in 2021. So we know that New York State presents a significant opportunity for both of our FF and FX brands… Between our AI focus, technology, and luxury EV offerings, we are taking the necessary steps to begin our operations in this region soon and we are excited to share our vision for the future of intelligent mobility with a new group of future FF and FX users.”

– Matthias Aydt, Global CEO of Faraday Future

Recent updates to the FF 91 ‘2.0 Futurist Alliance’ (to give its slightly wordy full name) as of last December include an upgraded in-car software, including a new AI voice assistant, revamped and quicker reacting door panel displays and central display, improved Bluetooth connectivity, and updated rear TVs for rear passengers.

Faraday Looks To Strengthen The Brand In New York

Cited as a “growth opportunity,” the decision has been made to simultaneously increase both the brand’s visibility in the United States and strengthen the company’s position within North America’s luxury EV market. The FF 91 for example was originally intended to be an alternative option to the likes of Tesla’s Model Y Plaid, but has yet to strike a nerve with customers. So much so that financial struggles hit the company hard in 2016, just two years after its foundation, and $30 million of additional funding – with $7.5 million delivered up front – was sought last December.

In a bid to subtly showcase its focus on AI development for its vehicles, Faraday Future recently updated its ‘ticker’ on the NASDAQ stock exchange from ‘FFIE’ to ‘FFAI.’ Both the company’s trademarked name – Faraday Future Intelligent Electric Inc – and its official logo remain unchanged. News also broke last week that two ‘FX 6’ prototypes of Faraday’s subsidiary brand have arrived in the United States from China for validation testing.
