It’s now been comfortably more than three years since Forza Horizon 5 released, taking the festival to Mexico. Based on release dates for previous games in the series, we had a bit of hope that Horizon 6 could be with us in 2024 – or at the very least announced for a 2025 arrival.
However, 2024 proved not to be the year of Horizon 6, making this the current longest gap between entries into the series – and there’s no concrete information to suggest a new game is coming anytime soon.
If anything, it could be further away than we thought, given the arrival of FH5 on PS5 and Playground Games working away on another major Xbox title. So then, where is Forza Horizon 6?
Will there be a Forza Horizon 6?
At the time of writing, there has been no confirmation that Forza Horizon 6 will even happen. It seems a no-brainer that it will happen at some stage, but we can’t 100 per cent say for certain.
If we are to hear anything this year, we’d expect it to be part of a bigger set of announcements early in the summer. 8 June will see the next Xbox Showcase, which seems a likely bet for a reveal if one is to come.
We have previously reached out to Playground Games for a comment on Horizon 6, but have not heard back.
Where will Forza Horizon 6 be set?
So far, there’s been no concrete evidence as to where Forza Horizon 6 could be set. We can pretty much rule out Mexico or the UK as those have been the locations of the last two Horizon titles, and if there is to be a return to a former location, we’d expect an updated version of the original Colorado map more likely than anything.
Japan is always widely requested by the community, but for whatever reason, Playground Games has resisted those calls so far. It would mark the first time the series has visited Asia if that were to happen, and if we are to throw a little bit of fuel onto the fire, Horizon 5 had an influx of niche JDM cars coming to the game in late 2024.
Although it’s likely nothing to read too much into at this stage, we hope it’s a sign Playground Games is gearing up for a trip to the land of the rising sun. That said, the series has also yet to make a trip to South America or Africa, which could be curveball options. Or Antarctica, if we’re covering all the bases, but it’s not exactly an ideal location for driving supercars.
Will Forza Horizon 6 be on PlayStation?
When Forza Horizon 5 launched in 2021, it would’ve seemed a silly question to ask if it would be available on PlayStation. Yet, in the year 2025, the unthinkable has happened.

Forza Horizon 5 is now available on PS5. No surprise, it’s just as good as every other platform. At this stage, it would be a shock for FH6 not to land on Sony’s console at some stage, if not on its release.
When will Forza Horizon 6 be released?
2024 came and went without Forza Horizon 6, leading us to wonder if 2025 will be the year. This year remains a strong possibility, but there’s a rather gigantic cloud looming over the world of gaming – GTA VI. Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two has confirmed it’ll be coming in autumn.
If you’re Microsoft, would you want to release your headline AAA open-world driving game in its traditional window alongside the most hotly anticipated open-world game of perhaps all time?

Playground Games is also working away on a reboot of the Fable series, however, it has been confirmed that will be delayed until 2026. The fantasy RPG is apparently worked on by a separate team from Forza, although it remains to be seen if that will have any knock-on effect for Horizon 6.
Our expectation is that Fable will arrive before a new Forza, but that delay could shift things around.
Adding to that, Horizon 5’s recent PS5 arrival would also make it seem a strange move to release another title and potentially cannibalise sales of the new one just a few months on.
With all that in mind, we’ll be surprised to see Forza Horizon 6 before next year. Albeit delighted if we’re wrong.
