Hennessey is laying claim to quite a title. It says the new Venom F5 Evolution, created in partnership with Ilmor Engineering, is the “world’s most powerful, 100 percent internal combustion road car engine.” The 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged engine is capable of producing a horrifying 2,031 horsepower. This isn’t an entirely new take on the Venom, however. Instead, it’s a package, meaning that any Venom F5 could be made to produce that kind of power. The catch?
Hennessey’s Evolution Package Costs $285,000
$285,000 is a lot of money. You could buy one entire Porsche 911 GT3RS for that kind of money. That’s in addition to the cost of a Venom F5, and depending on which version, you could be looking at more than $2 million for one. Still, it’s worth acknowledging you’re paying for a technological marvel. The 6.6-liter engine features oval-shaped pistons, something even Ferrari has only just begun looking at.
Reducing weight is another key ingredient in the motor, which features lighter valve covers, a titanium exhaust, and titanium connecting rods. The turbochargers are accompanied by larger fuel injectors to help produce even more power than the stock Venom’s engine. Torque is plentiful, and Hennessey’s claimed output is set at a staggering 1,455 pound-feet of torque.
0-200 Miles Per Hour In 10 Seconds
10.3 seconds is allegedly how long Hennessey’s Venom F5 Evolution will need to break 200 mph. It’s a lofty claim, but we have little doubt Hennessey will set about proving the new Evolution package is worth the cash very soon. Other enticing items include a new adaptive suspension that features six total drive modes: Sport, Road, Race, Drag, Wet, and F5. The final drive mode also unleashes all 2,031 horsepower.
New aerodynamics are part of the package, which adds a new front splitter, underbody, tire wake deflectors, and louvers in the front arches. There’s also a new wing in the back to aid high-speed stability. Finally, a new Touring set of options within the Evolution package adds some luxuries, like a cupholder and more bolstering for the seats. A quieter Touring exhaust is also available.
TopSpeed’s Take
holds a number of speed records, and this new Venom is throwing down the gauntlet. It’ll be interesting to see Hennessey push the F5 Evolution, and with power like this, it’s surely got some records of its own to lay claim to. It likely won’t be beating EVs like the
in outright acceleration, even with all that power, but hopefully, we’ll get to see what the new Hennessey is capable of regardless.
