Hyundai is one automaker that seems to be keeping the accelerator to the floor when if comes to electrification. Its EV portfolio includes the Kona Electric, Ioniq 5, and Ioniq 6, and the company just unveiled its three-row EV, the Ioniq 9, at the LA Auto Show last month. It also has hybrid versions of its Elantra, Sonata, Santa Fe, and Tucson, as well as the Tucson Plug-In Hybrid. Hyundai has been successful in selling these hybrids and EVs, let alone the traditionally powered remainder of the lineup. In fact, Hyundai America saw its best-ever November for sales last month, with some serious growth in EV and hybrid sales.

November By The Numbers

Hyundai’s vehicle sales totaled just over 76,000 in November of this year, up eight percent from November 2023. EV sales were up a seriously impressive 77 percent from last November, while hybrid sales were up a shocking 104 percent.

2024 Is Shaping Up To Be A Big Year For The South Korean Automaker

Year-to-date, Hyundai’s best-selling models have been the Tucson (185,954 units), Elantra (125,113 units), and Santa Fe (105,701 units), though the Palisade looks to easily hit six-digit sales by the end of the year, with 99,757 sold through November. So far, Hyundai has sold 758,304 vehicles, and is on pace for its best year, beating its 2023 sales record of 796,506 units. Yes, it looks like Hyundai America will sell over 800,000 cars this year (unless, of course, it has its worst December sales since 2008.

It will be interesting to see what Hyundai’s EV sales look like in 2025. Next year, it will sell an updated version of its Ioniq 5, which it will build at its new EV plant in Georgia (which will make it eligible for a federal rebate if Trump doesn’t kill the program). It will also begin selling the three-row Ioniq 9 EV. Adding another model to its lineup, particularly for an underserved electric segment, probably shouldn’t hurt.
