The Wagoneer S is Jeep’s first global electric vehicle. This stylish, battery-powered SUV offers big power, good range, plenty of technology, and a surprisingly upscale interior – or maybe it shouldn’t be surprising given how premium Jeeps have felt for years now. But it’s not all good news. If you own a Wagoneer S, keep an eye on your mailbox for a recall notice.
Lighting The Way … Or Maybe Not
Now, don’t panic. In the grand scheme of things, this call-back action is not particularly severe – the battery pack isn’t going to burst into flames if the state of charge drops to less than 25 percent, and airbags won’t spontaneously deploy while you’re creeping along in the Starbucks drive-through. Instead, this recall addresses misaligned headlights.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), “The headlight vertical aim adjustment is not accessible, and the horizontal aim adjustment is not covered as intended. As a result, the headlights may not be able to be adjusted properly.” If this is the case, these Jeeps may not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
Naturally, if a car or truck’s headlights are not aimed correctly, and they can’t easily be adjusted, this creates a safety issue while driving at night. To rectify this issue, “Dealers will remove the plugs from the vertical aim [adjusters] and install plugs on the horizontal aim [adjusters], as necessary.” Of course, this service work will be done free of charge.
Up to 3,919 Wagoneer S utility vehicles from the 2024 and ’25 model years are affected by this recall. It’s estimated 100 percent of these vehicles have this issue.
If you own one of these Jeeps, a formal recall notice is expected to be mailed out by May 9, 2025. The NHTSA campaign number for this action is 25V174000, and Stellantis’ internal designation is 23C. If you have questions or concerns, you can contact the NTHSA safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or Stellantis customer service by calling 1-800-853-1403.
A Powerful And Luxurious EV
The Wagoneer S packs a real wallop. This SUV has up to 600 horsepower and 617 pound-feet of torque, enough to propel this Jeep from a standstill to 60 mph in as little as 3.4 seconds. As for terminal velocity, expect the Wagoneer S to top out at a heady 124 mph.
A 100.5-kilowatt-hour battery with a 400-volt electrical architecture powers this vehicle’s electric motors. This pack provides around 300 miles of range when fully juiced up. Additionally, this Jeep can DC fast charge from 20 percent to 80 percent in an estimated 23 minutes, a decent if not outstanding performance.
As for pricing, this upscale SUV starts at around $68,000 including $1,995 in destination fees but before any potential discounts or tax credits.
