If you’re shopping for a BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Audi, Jaguar, Volvo or Acura, stopping in at the Detroit Auto Show would normally be worthwhile at this time of year, if for no other reason than to come out of the cold.

But none of those luxury brands is displaying at this year’s show, which ends Sunday, Jan. 25 and has become a smaller, regional event.

So that means Cadillac, Lincoln, Alfa Romeo and Buick have cars on carpet, and Cadillac actually has a dramatic concept car, the Elevated Velocity with gullwing doors and a wild interior. And this is your chance to see an all-electric Cadillac Celestiq up close, with a sticker price starting around $400,000.

While luxury brands overall skipped Motown this year, you will see a Lucid Gravity electric SUV, because it was nominated for North American Utility of the Year (but it lost to Hyundai Palisade). You’ll also spot on the show floor a few big-ticket offerings from Bentley and Rolls-Royce, because show organizers called in favors with local dealers and car collectors to add some sizzle.
