If you’re into middleweight adventure bikes, there’s a new Chinese motorcycle you need to check out. It goes by the name DS625X and comes from the reputed Chinese bikemaker Voge Motorcycles. The DS hits the mark in nearly every aspect you’d expect it to, serving as a highly capable alternative to dated Japanese names like the Suzuki V-Strom 650 and Kawasaki Versys 650.
The Voge DS625X Has A 581cc Twin-Cylinder Engine With 64 Horsepower
Although the name reads ‘625’, the DS actually has a much smaller 581cc parallel-twin engine. It has liquid cooling, DOHC, and four valves to produce 64 horsepower and 42 pound-feet. All that oomph reaches the wheel via a six-speed transmission. The output is right on par with the Versys 650 and slightly shy of the V-Strom 650XT, both in terms of horsepower and torque. It’s a job well done, considering the cubic capacity disadvantage.
The mill sits cradled inside a high-strength steel chassis with tubular sections. It relies on KaYaBa USD forks and monoshock for suspension duties, both offering full adjustability and ample travel for off-road fun. 19/17-inch cross-spoke hoops, wrapped in dual-purpose tires, give you the confidence to take the odd off-road excursion now and then. All this while, the dry weight lies at 423 pounds.
Premium Features And Unique Design Up The DS625X’s Package
This is one place where the DS truly edges ahead of the above-mentioned Japanese bikes. In typical Chinese fashion, Voge has loaded it with unheard features in the segment, along with the usual bits like ride modes, traction control, LED lights, and a color display. The list includes:
- HD front camera
- TPMS
- USB port
- Switchable ABS
- Center stand
- Adjustable windscreen
- Turn-by-turn navigation
The design matches the brief, too. It’s a clean yet unique appearance, complete with fancy touches like golden forks and golden rims. Handguards, belly pan, and luggage rack add to its rugged nature. There are two colors, namely Desert Yellow and Black Knight.
Voge Has Yet To Enter America
Drooling over the DS? Then, prepare to be bummed. That’s because Voge has yet to enter the North American market. It is expanding in full swing across the pond, though, so America could very well be next. But until there’s an official word, all we can do is wait. For reference, the DS625X costs about $8,000 in Britain, which makes it an excellent proposition.
