If you’re bored with the usual and all too common monochromatic and achromatic color options when ordering and optioning your Mercedes-Benz and want to separate yourself with something different and fitting to your own personal tastes, then the company’s new MANUFAKTUR Studio has you covered. It’s the latest division within the Stuttgart-based automaker and is essentially the Three-Point Star’s own in-house unique design department, allowing for greater customization of its top-of-the-line models, such as the S-Class flagship sedan, all to offer buyers a chance to make their cars more exclusive and to showcase a new level of craftsmanship, individualization, and quality.
It’s similar to Land Rover’s SV (Special Vehicle) Bespoke division and BMW Individual, or their factory-backed customization divisions that allow top-paying customers to personalize their car beyond what’s available by default from the factory catalog. Though it’s not the first time Mercedes-Benz offered such services as it was previously available through the company’s Designo department. Designo, however, was retired in 2021 and replaced by MANUFAKTUR while also being expanded to offer greater services and options.
Proudly Made In Sindelfingen With Unrivaled Precision
Mercedes-Benzes have always been about precision quality and craftsmanship, defining Germany’s reputation for making meticulously engineered vehicles with fastidious build quality. But the MANUFAKTUR Studio cranks it all up a few notches and then some, while also reminding the world of these qualities by offering customers a chance to personalize their vehicles from the factory beyond what’s typically offered.
Want a completely custom exterior or interior color combo with special-ordered paintwork and finishes that are not otherwise available in the normal catalog? MANFAKTUR Studio has you covered. Want a specific colored trim or upholstery pattern not typically offered from the factory assembly line to avoid having the same color combo as your neighbor’s S-Class? MANUFAKTUR Studio also has that covered.
“In our new MANUFAKTUR Studio at the heart of the Sindelfingen factory complex, we’re offering our customers an exclusive area for a product experience with the highest degree of customization,” Jörg Burzer said in an official statement, a member of the Board of Management for the Mercedes-Benz Group AG. “By expanding the MANUFAKTUR experience, we are strategically developing the location and the ‘Made in Sindelfingen’ seal of quality. We’re now combining traditional craftsmanship with innovative, digital production processes.”
However, separating MANUKATUR Studio’s processes from previous methods are new revolutionary artificial intelligence-driven technologies that not only help to speed up the assembly and manufacturing process, but also aid in reducing margins for error and defects, all in the name of MANUFAKTUR Studio’s promise for quality assurance. The studio also launches the division’s new PixelPaint technology, which the company equates to a massive Inkjet printer, but for vehicle exteriors. Not only does it enable a new precise way of custom painting its vehicles, but the process allows for greater levels of customization, patterns, finishes, and even custom patterns.
Once ordered, the cars are then assembled on the main line in Sindelfingen and transferred to the MANUFAKTUR Studio-sanctioned in-house customization facility, called “Factory 56,” where specially trained and exquisitely skilled employees make all the exclusive handcrafted magic happen.
MANUFAKTUR To Soon Expand To Mercedes-AMG And Mercedes-Maybach Models
While Mercedes’ MANUFAKTUR Studio individualization services are currently only available with the flagship S-Class sedan, the studio will soon offer a similar level of customization to other models, including Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Maybach models.
