President Trump recently enacted a 25 percent tariff on imported vehicles and their components. Nissan seems to be responding by cutting the prices of two of its more popular products. The 2025 Rogue and Pathfinder are more affordable than last year.

In its pricing announcement, Nissan argued the decision would “boost affordability for customers facing a challenging car-buying landscape.” This statement seems like an indirect reference to how the tariffs could affect the cost of buying a vehicle.

Model Changes

Despite the price change, neither model changes much for the 2025 model year. The latest Pathfinder gets a power hatchback as a standard feature on the SV and Rock Creek trims. It also comes with the Nissan Maintenance Care program that covers three scheduled oil changes for the first two years or 24,000 miles.

The 2025 Rogue has more significant upgrades, such as introducing the Rock Creek trim level and the ProPilot Assist 2.1 driver assistance tech.

The tariffs are nearly certain to increase vehicle costs, but automakers can fight back by cutting MSRPs as deeply as possible.

The Rock Creek model has a mix of gloss black, silver, and Lava Red exterior accents. It also gets a set of 17-inch satin black wheels with Falken Wild Peak all-terrain tires. Inside, the upholstery is a water-repellent leatherette. In terms of amenities, there are heated front seats, a 12-volt plug in the cargo area, an off-road view camera, and Hill Descent Control. An optional package adds a wireless charging pad, heated steering wheel, four-way power-adjustable passenger seat, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and interior LED accent lighting.

Nissan’s ProPilot Assist 2.1 system comprises several different driver assists. The tech is an option on the Rogue SL and Platinum. It allows for hands-off driving within a single lane on freeways by controlling acceleration, steering, and braking.

TopSpeed’s Take

It’s interesting to see Nissan being among the first automakers to cut costs. We wonder whether other companies might follow this strategy. Having a lower price might be a method of attracting customers if the competitors’ offerings get more expensive. The tariffs are nearly certain to increase vehicle costs, but automakers can fight back by cutting MSRPs as deeply as possible.
