The most annoying Porsche guy at your local Cars and Coffee has a new P Car to drool over: the 911 Club Coupe. It’s the continuation of something of a tradition. Porsche will offer up an extremely limited run of these special-edition 911s, available only to Porsche Club of America members. It was done previously for the club’s 50th and 60th anniversaries with the 997-generation Club Coupe and the 991-generation Club Coupe, respectively. Each time, the models feature a festive take on the Stars and Stripes, as is the case with this one, based on the Carrera T.
The 911 Club Coupe Is Late For 4th Of July, But It’s In America Nonetheless
The special edition 911 uses the same 388-horsepower flat-six powertrain and six-speed manual transmission, spinning the rear wheels. However, Porsche does offer a mechanical limited-slip differential and sport suspension with a 0.4-inch lower ride height in the way of mechanical changes, which should help the coupe to handle even better. Also fitted is the brand’s Sport Chrono package, rear-axle steering, a PASM Active Suspension Management adaptive damping, and, critically, a louder exhaust.
If anything, the takeaway here is that other automakers need to show similar consistency and dedication to their most hardcore fans.
As for aesthetics, you’ll find each equipped with the same bespoke Sholar Blue paint. There are also some accents, which is nice to see in a world where it seems like everyone would rather roll out some sort of Black Edition and remove contrast from their special editions. These are done up in Brilliant Silver, and you’ll notice further Guards Red accents on the grille and grille slats. These are, of course, the American flag colors, but also those of PCA. Meanwhile, black wheels with silver spokes finish off the exterior updates. Inside, the Club Coupe is an explosion of color with tartan red, white, and blue seating and accents. There’s also a set of door decals, a grille badge, and further badging that reads “Porsche Club of America.” Contrast stitching in Guards Red and Speed Blue also abounds inside.
Just 70 Will Be Made
Like previous Club models, these are extremely rare, and you’ve got to be a Porsche Club of America member to even be eligible to purchase one. Just 70 will be made. 69 will go to PCA members, but one will be held by Porsche: the company will raffle this one to one further PCA member, ensuring at least one of these cars isn’t accounted for by PCA pecking order or, perhaps, internal politicking. The 70th car will stay with Porsche for the company’s museum in Zuffenhausen. Of course, pricing isn’t out, but as the adage goes, if you have to ask…
TopSpeed’s Take
If anything, the takeaway here is that other automakers need to show similar consistency and dedication to their most hardcore fans. That, and that plaid, is a very good choice for interior furnishings. Automakers don’t typically offer very many adventurous choices in vehicle specs, but those that do, even in the mainstream, often see the rewards. Ford offers tons of customization for the Bronco, and some more interesting colors and materials should be everyone’s takeaway here.
