A new recall out of Stellantis covers 10,396 Ram trucks, stating the popular midsize trucks may have been built with “an incorrectly programmed instrument panel cluster (IPC).” Of the 10,396 trucks, the NHTSA estimates that 100 percent of the recalled Ram 1500s will need to be repaired in its Recall 573 report. The trucks were produced from October 3, 2023, until March 6, 2025, and all vehicles are from the 2025 model year.

Ram 1500 Recalled For Tire Pressure Glitch

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) states that an incorrect “inflate to: 50 psi” message will be displayed instead of the accurate recommended tire inflation pressure should the tire become under-inflated. The message is displayed in the center cluster, intended to help remind customers of the correct tire pressure for their truck. However, when the error occurs, it may mislead some owners, tricking them into over-pressurizing their tires. Of course, this can have some serious consequences.

The NHTSA states that over-filling tires can increase the risk of a tire blowout. If that happens while the vehicle is in motion, a crash could occur. Owners will only receive the incorrect message if their tires are under the recommended pressure, triggering the alert in the car’s infotainment screens, and the NHTSA isn’t aware of any other triggers for the issue at the time of publishing.

It appears Stellantis first became aware of the issue on January 9, when it opened an investigation into some Ram 1500 models displaying tire pressure info incorrectly. In March, Stellantis found 15 warranty claims, 23 field reports, and two other service records potentially relating to this issue.

Thankfully, none of those have resulted in any accidents or injuries. The fix is relatively simple. A dealer will reprogram one of the 10,000 or so trucks with this issue, resulting in corrected software that will hopefully display correct tire pressure recommendations. Dealers have been notified as of publishing, and customers can expect to be notified on or around May 8, 2025.

TopSpeed’s Take

This recall is the latest of three recalls issued for the 2025 1500. The other two were equally serious. Headlights had a risk of becoming inoperative, and an issue with the truck’s stability control system could have caused the entire system to shut down. There are not a lot of recalls, but each is a serious safety risk, and owners will want to contact their dealers to ensure their trucks are up-to-date.
