Similar to Toyota and Lexus, Genesis is Hyundai’s premium arm. The high-end marque differentiates itself from its parent with unique styling, better materials in the cabin, and cutting-edge technology.

Like Hyundai, Genesis often debuts vehicles in its home market of South Korea before introducing them to other markets. For example, the brand is now showing off the refreshed GV60 there, which offers a fantastic preview of what to expect before the updated SUV comes to the United States.

Take A Look At The Redesigned GV60

Genesis doesn’t overhaul the GV60’s exterior appearance, but the changes keep the model looking modern. The split headlights still dominate the front end, and the lamps now have seven LED projectors inside of them rather than the current five. The revised lower fascia includes new bracket-shaped inlets on the outer corners. The trapezoidal grille no longer has the tiny, triangle-shaped element at the top. The result is a cleaner appearance when viewing the GV60 from the front.

The SUV’s profile doesn’t change much. There’s still a floating roof with metallic trim separating it from the rest of the body. The new set of wheels features a 21-inch, five-spoke design with painted panels. At the back, the split taillights have the same shape but appear to have new graphics. The lower fascia no longer has metallic trim.

The cabin has some small upgrades. The improved 27-inch panoramic screen no longer has a bezel between the instrument cluster and the infotainment display. The driver grips a new three-spoke steering wheel. The quilted leather seats and door panels give the interior a posh appearance.

There’s Still More To Know

Genesis won’t release powertrain specifications yet. It’ll reveal those details closer to when the model will be on sale in South Korea in the first quarter of the year. The GV60 is currently available in multiple outputs. The base, rear-drive model makes 225 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The all-wheel-drive variant increases the power to 314 horsepower and 446 pound-feet of torque. The range-topping Performance trim has 429 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.

All of the models are powered by a 77.4 kilowatt-hour battery. The charging system supports up to 250 kilowatts, allowing the pack to go from 10 percent to 80 percent in as little as 18 minutes. Depending on the model, the range can be from 294 miles to 235 miles.

TopSpeed’s Take

The revisions to the GV60 are fairly minor when looking at them individually, but they combine to make the SUV a more handsome vehicle than the current one. If it’s coming to South Korea in the first quarter of the year, then we’d expect the vehicle to debut in the United States before the end of the year.
