Few automakers have the cult-like following of Subaru. At least in North America, drivers seem to absolutely adore this Japanese automaker’s somewhat quirky vehicles, nearly all of which, except for the BRZ sports car, come standard with traction-enhancing all-wheel drive. In keeping with its upbeat corporate image, Subaru is also active in various charities, famously bringing adoptable puppies to auto shows. Doing even more good in the world, the automaker’s Share the Love charitable event just set a new record.
A Massive Haul
Last year, the company collected a whopping $31.7 million in donations, the highest ever. Subaru’s Share the Love Event has been active for 17 years, and during that time has brought in nearly $320 million, money that’s been used to do enormous good.
This event ran from November 21, 2024, to January 2, 2025. During that time, participating Subaru dealerships and the automaker itself would donate at least $300 to charity for each new vehicle sold or leased. Subaru works closely with a range of aid organizations, including the National Park Foundation, Meals on Wheels America, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). These national groups received more than $8 million from last year’s Share the Love Event, while so-called hometown organizations received the remainder, nearly $24 million.
Subaru Makes It Easy To Support Charities
“None of this would be possible without the incredible dedication of our retailers, customers, and employees, whose shared values made 2024 an impactful and memorable year for communities nationwide,” said Subaru of America’s president and chief operating officer, Jeff Walters, in a media release. “Ensuring that our annual Share the Love Event is a success requires true collaboration and teamwork toward a worthy cause. This past year’s record-breaking initiative achieved far more than just raising funds for deserving organizations – it helped spread love and support in meaningful ways,” the executive added.
When purchasing or leasing a new vehicle, customers could opt to support one of four national charities, or they could donate to select local charities. According to the automaker, drivers much prefer supporting groups in their communities. As mentioned, more than $23 million was sent to 834 local aid organizations.
Subaru, the automaker’s retail partners, and, of course, its customers made a huge difference last year by helping numerous charities. For additional information about Subaru’s Share the Love Event and to learn more about the work that’s already been done, visit their website at Subaru.com/share.
