Porsche just posted its sales figures for the first half of 2025, and there are plenty of interesting data points buried in the numbers. Even though the global economy is unstable, wars are raging in several regions, and drivers are being squeezed seemingly from every direction, the first six months of the year weren’t too bad for this high-performance German automaker.

A Modest Decline In 2025 H1 Sales

Overall, Porsche sold 146,391 vehicles globally in the first half of 2025, a good showing to be certain, but not enough to outpace last year’s performance (155,945 deliveries). Unfortunately, that showing represents a six-percent year-over-year decline.

Sales were down in most regions of the world, dropping 23 percent in Germany, 28 percent in China, and eight percent in Europe (excluding Germany, of course). Deliveries, however, did increase 10 percent in North America and the same amount in “overseas and emerging markets” as the automaker rather vaguely describes them.

Electrification Is Booming

As for Porsche’s electrified models, they are doing very well. More than 36 percent of the automaker’s total deliveries in the first half of the year were battery-bolstered, a 14.5 percent increase. Breaking things down, 23.5 percent of the company’s sales were purely electric vehicles, and 12.6 percent featured plug-in hybrid powertrains.

Now, the best-selling Porsche so far this year is the Macan small utility vehicle. Globally, dealers moved more than 45,000 examples of this SUV, a 15 percent year-over-year increase. But what’s fascinating here is that the electric model accounted for nearly 60 percent of Macan sales, 60 percent! Just shy of 26,000 battery-powered examples were delivered in the first half of 2025.

“Overall, we have succeeded in keeping sales volumes stable and balanced across the sales regions despite ongoing geopolitical challenges. Our customers continue to place great value on individualized vehicles, and we will continue to expand our offerings in this area.”

– Matthias Becker, Board Member, Sales and Marketing, Porsche

The executive also noted, “The fully electric Macan is making a significant contribution to our proportion of electrified cars.”

Porsche is a niche automaker, and its core lineup of vehicles is quite small, at least compared to a full-line manufacturer like Toyota, which offers a dizzying array of models. When it comes to hybrids and pure EVs, the Panamera sedan, Cayenne SUV, and Cayenne Coupe utility vehicle are all offered with gasoline-electric powertrains. The Taycan, of course, is available exclusively as an EV, while the Macan is offered with combustion powertrains or as an electric.

Going forward, “We expect the environment to remain challenging. This makes it all the more important that we work closely with our sales regions to carefully balance supply and demand in line with our ‘value over volume’ strategy,” said Becker. “The basis for this is our highly attractive and almost completely renewed product range, which excellently covers the very diverse customer requirements worldwide in terms of powertrain and equipment.”
