They’re sold. All 30, in case you were wondering. There are somehow 30 people willing to put down the seven-figure sum for one of these before even driving one. That’s almost as utterly insane to try and grasp as the figures behind the Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear. Yeah, it’s got a cool name, but it’s also effectively a Jesko unleashed, with less weight, yet more downforce, and more power. It’s an absurd car with figures behind it that are too hard to put into frame, but it’s worth a try.

The Sadair’s Spear Is More Powerful Than Even The Most Extreme Koenigsegg

The powertrain, like the car, is based on the Jesko Attack, the 1,578 horsepower hard-edged version of founder Christian Von Koenigsegg’s tribute to his father. The Sadair’s Spear is based on the Jesko, and is named after the horse his father rode during his final race in his jockeying days. The powertrain for Sadair’s Spear is a tweaked version of the Jesko’s 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 and its nine-speed Lightspeed transmission. The latter features no flywheel, which means it’ll rev faster than you can imagine (8500 rpm in just 0.2 seconds). The motor gets new engine software, new intakes, and better cooling for a 25-hp bump, resulting in a hilarious 1282 horsepower on pump gas gasoline, and a staggering 1602 horsepower on E85.

Aero upgrades abound here, too. There’s now a double-bladed rear wing with an extended rear on the car, which Koenigsegg wizards say allows for enhanced airflow. New, larger front canards, louvers, a new Gurney flap, and updated hood vents net significantly more downforce (and cooling power, in the case of the flap). Tires were also widened for better grip, and the carbon ceramic brakes now have (somehow) better pads. The suspension is updated and lightened, and all told, Sadair’s Spear drops 77 pounds off the already lightweight Jesko’s curb weight.

This Is The Fastest Koenigsegg Ever

As a result of these changes, it’s also faster than a Jesko Attack by some margin. The goal was to beat the Jesko Attack’s lap time at the Gotland Ring, Koenigsegg’s testing grounds. Which it did, of course, handily… on its shakedown laps. Without the driver really pushing the car all that hard, it beat the Jesko’s lap time by 1.1 seconds. Typical of Koenigsegg, the newest car is a mind-boggling feat of engineering. Each wheel is actually bespoke, featuring a direction pattern unique to each corner. Inside, Koenigsegg says it has also updated the interior with “bespoke” styling, and more importantly, bucket seats with optional six-point harnesses. As stated above, only 30 will be made, all are sold, and each went for at least $5 million.

TopSpeed’s Take

Koenigsegg somehow manages to push the envelope further. Each time the company puts out a new car, or in this case, a track day special, it manages to move the bar. Frankly, there is no other automaker out there right now putting out the technical innovations we’ve seen from Koenigsegg, and it’s been that way for some time. The Sadair’s Spear is another car in a long line of absolutely absurd cars, and we’re ready for more already.
