The liter-class naked segment is the hottest it’s ever been, and things have just heated up even more. Why? Because there’s a new Italian streetfighter available in America now that squarely takes on the popular Yamaha MT-10. In case you haven’t guessed, we’re talking about the new and updated Aprilia Tuono V4.

The Aprilia Tuono V4 Boasts 180 Horsepower From Its 1,099cc Engine

One of the big changes for 2025 comes to the 1,099cc V4 engine. The mill has new 52 mm throttle bodies and an updated exhaust system, both of which enable an output of 180 horsepower and 89 pound-feet. This is five ponies up from the outgoing Tuono V4.

More importantly, it allows the naked to be way more competitive in the market. It is well clear of its direct rivals like the Yamaha MT-10 and BMW S 1000 R, while matching the way pricier Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS. The Ducati Streetfighter V4 is in a different league altogether, both price and performance-wise.

Since that’s a lot of thump, there’s a top-shelf electronics package to keep things in check. You get:

  • Traction control
  • Wheelie control
  • Two-way quickshifter
  • Engine maps
  • Engine brake control
  • Cornering ABS

Premium Suspension And An Updated Design Round Off The New Tuono V4’s Package

What about underpinnings, you ask? Well, like before, an aluminum perimeter chassis is the protagonist here. This frame relies on Sachs USD forks and monoshock, both of which are adjustable and clamped onto 17-inch cast alloy wheels. Braking is via two 330 mm front discs and a 220 mm rear disc. The package weighs 465 pounds–two less than the MT-10.

Topping all this is a refreshed design. At the front, MotoGP-derived wings take the center stage. We’re not a fan of the look, but these are functional and offer 5.5 pounds of vertical load at 155 miles per hour. At the opposite end, the tail lamp has been ditched in favor of a sleeker setup with three-in-one LED turn signals.

The Tuono V4 Factory Brings Ohlins Suspension Into The Mix

Like 2024, there’s a top-spec Factory version available as well. The key difference is the presence of Ohlins forks and monoshock with Smart EC2.0 electronic adjustment. This is topped with a bespoke Dark Kraken livery and a color-matched black-red saddle. The final change comes to the electronic gizmos, as the Factory adds:

  • Launch control
  • Race dashboard
  • Cruise control
  • Pit limiter
  • Slide control

The New Aprilia Tuono V4 Starts From $16,399

The updated Tuono V4 starts from $16,399–just $200 more than the 2024 model. Pick the Factory, and the price rises steeply to $19,799. At its base MSRP, the Tuono V4 slots a couple of thousand dollars ahead of the Yamaha MT-10 and BMW S 1000 R. That’s a well-justified moolah, given the extra performance and features. Meanwhile, the top-spec model undercuts the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS by a few hundred dollars.
