We all know how Chinese bikemakers are slowly and steadily upping their international presence. Credit goes to some capable machines in recent times, such as the CFMoto 675SS and Benelli TRK702X. More of these machines are setting foot in the West as time goes on, and a key example comes in the form of the MITT 775R. It’s a middleweight sports bike from China that can match up with Japanese rivals in terms of what’s on offer. In fact, it just might be the ultimate Yamaha R7 alternative. Here’s a lowdown.

The MITT 775R Boasts A 730cc Twin-Cylinder Engine With 80 Horsepower

Jumping right in, the 775R features a 730cc, parallel-twin engine. This is a four-valve mill, with double overhead camshafts and an 11.5:1 compression ratio. That enables an output of 80 horsepower and 53 pound-feet via a six-speed transmission. These numbers make it considerably more powerful than the Yamaha YZF-R7 and the Kawasaki Ninja 650, while bringing it right in the ballpark of the Suzuki GSX-8R.

Like the engine, the underpinnings are promising. There’s an aluminum alloy perimeter chassis, suspended on chunky KYB USD forks and a monoshock. Both elements boast preload adjustability for fine-tuning the experience. This is topped with 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends, where the front houses two 320 mm disc brakes and a 240 mm rear disc with Brembo calipers. All this while, the highlight remains the single-sided swingarm–a rarity in this segment. It does come at the cost of weight, though, as the 775 weighs 452 pounds dry.

A Unique Design Makes The MITT 775R Unmissable

Building on the unique swingarm, the bike keeps the unique touches going elsewhere. Up top, you get a distinct multi-element LED light with a projector slapped in the middle. The tail takes this one step ahead with large dual tail lamps that mimic underseat exhausts. The actual exhaust is a belly-mounted unit neatly tucked behind the fairings. Speaking of which, these fairings have a sporty design–almost as if this were a concept bike.

Lastly, we have the features. It’s short and nothing out of the ordinary, similar to the YZF-R7 but a bit better. You get:

The MITT 775R Might Not Make It To The US

Yes, you read that right. And there’s a reason we say that. You see, MITT isn’t actually the maker of the 775R. Instead, it is importing this machine from China, where the bike is known as the Jedi K750. Since MITT doesn’t operate in the US, the chances of seeing this anytime soon remain slim. However, if someone like CSC were to take up the importing trouble, it could become a reality. It’s something we’d love to see, as the 775R sells for under $8,500 in Europe!
