Strong-hybrid technology might be very new in the world of motorcycles. But small hybrid commuters are slowly becoming common. Yamaha is one of the companies at the forefront of this, offering several scooters and bikes with hybrid tech overseas. One of the newest examples of this comes from India, where the Yamaha FZS-Fi naked bike boasts an astonishing maximum range of ~600 miles in a single tank. That’s over 2x more than the Harley-Davidson, which has the highest range in 2025!
The Yamaha FZS-Fi Has A 149cc Engine With A Real-World Range Of Over 200 MPG
The reason for this insane range is obviously the engine. The FZ’s 149cc, single-cylinder engine features a first-in-class hybrid assist system and an uber-low 9.6:1 compression ratio. While the former helps the engine conserve fuel at commuting speeds, the latter ensures an Uber-understressed state of tune. As a result, you get a real-world tested figure of over 200 miles per gallon.
In case you’re curious, Yamaha did a test with 11 FZS-Fi bikes in India, measuring the fuel consumption after real-world riding at 35-40 miles per hour for about 22 miles. The highest range was 203 miles per gallon, while the lowest was 175 miles per gallon. Add the 3.17-gallon tank capacity in the mix, and you’re looking at a maximum range of over 600 miles. That’s not only more than any of your favorite Harley-Davidson heavyweights, but even more than some popular American cars!
Simple Underpinnings And Modern Features Complete The Yamaha FZS-Fi’s Package
Being a strict city commuter, Yamaha has kept things really simple in the underpinning department. There’s a steel tubular chassis, which relies on telescopic forks and a monoshock for suspension duties. 17-inch alloy wheels and single disc brakes round things off. All this helps the bike tip the scale at just 304 pounds wet.
In contrast, the feature list is beyond modern for a motorcycle of this caliber. There’s a digital TFT instrument cluster, complete with smartphone connectivity, display modes, and all the information you’ll ever need. This is topped with traction control, a smart starter motor, a start-stop system, ABS, and LED lights.

The FZS-Fi Is Limited To The Asian Market
If this bike seems impressive to you, we have bad news. The chances of you seeing it here are slim, since the FZS-Fi is strictly sold in the Asian markets. To make matters worse, Yamaha doesn’t have any proper commuter bikes in the US. The closest thing to do that is the MT-03 or the XMax. So would you want the FZS-Fi here? Tell us in the comments.
