Earlier this year, I wrote a quick piece about this $123,500 2025 BMW M4 CS – how it’s sharper, lighter, and more powerful than ever. Gawking at the photos and going over the incredible specs, I pretty much daydreamed what this thing would actually feel like, both on the road and track. Now, having finally driven it, I can say it delivers exactly what I hoped for — and maybe a little more.

2025 BMW M4 CS First Impressions

At first glance, this twin-turbo coupe looks just as sinister in person as it does on screen. The gorgeous metallic green paired with gold bronze wheels and optional gold brakes stands out, especially against the dark, overcast skies. While the new BMW M4 CS also offers Riviera Blue, matte black wheels, and red brake calipers, this menacing green-on-gold combo works just fine for us.

BMW’s controversial front look has grown on me, and it works on this M4 CS, which looks more like a predator in a tailored suit than a polished executive ride.

The M4 CS styling embraces aggression, as it should, but without crossing into excess. The wide fenders, sharp lines, and that distinctive carbon-fiber-reinforced hood with air vents give it a track-ready edge. Love it or hate it, the black kidney grill and shadowy trim elements only heighten the aggressive vibe. Personally, BMW’s controversial front look has grown on me, and it works on this M4 CS, which looks more like a predator in a tailored suit than a polished executive ride.

Driving Impressions And Performance

I was fortunate enough to drive the 2025 M4 CS on rural roads, busy freeways, and BMW’s closed-circuit track near their Spartanburg plant — and it conquered all three with precision and confidence.

Add in its lighter weight, re-tuned dampers, and sharper steering, the M4 CS is refined enough for the road, but capable of serious track duty when you want it.

On the twisty rural roads in and around the small town of Spartanburg, the re-tuned dampers and sharpened steering delivered incredible balance and control through every rise and fall. In stop-and-go freeway traffic, the twin-turbo inline-six felt smooth and responsive, while the 8-speed automatic made effortless work of quick passes. But on the track, it came alive, with the M xDrive AWD and sport-tuned suspension letting me push it to the limit. Needless to say, every ounce of power and grip came together flawlessly.

Everyday Usability Of The M4 With The Track-Ready Precision Of The GTS

This is precisely what makes the next-gen M4 CS just a well-balanced car for daily commutes during the week, and track duties on the weekend. Nestled between the standard M4 and the hardcore, track-bred M4 GTS, the 2025 BMW M4 CS perfectly hits that sweet spot. Really, this is what the 4 Series is about, blending luxury, power, and size.

The adaptive M suspension offers enough compliance for daily driving, while staying razor-sharp on the track. For winter driving or severe rainy days as I experienced during my road test, the M xDrive AWD pulls through. Add in its lighter weight, re-tuned dampers, and sharper steering, the M4 CS is refined enough for the road, but capable of serious track duty when you want it.

Braking And Acceleration

  • Acceleration 0-60 MPH: 3.2 seconds
  • Top Speed: 188 MPH:

None of this info will shock you, but BMW’s compact executive coupe checks all the boxes for stopping power and acceleration. Put the pedal down, and the near-550 horsepower kicks in with ferocity that pushes you well back into your seat. On the busy highway, merging on and overtaking is a breeze: the 8-speed automatic snaps through the gears instantly – the one time you may forget about a stick shift. My 0-60 MPH at the track felt close to the official 3.2-second mark. Give or take a millisecond (I’m not a professional driver, just saying).

Front and rear, the M4 CS braking assembly includes M Compound carbon-ceramic brakes; vented with six-piston fixed calipers up front and single-piston floating calipers in the back. Braking in this coupe is just as impressive. Even under hard braking, the M4 CS stays composed, with no fade or nose dive — just flat, predictable deceleration.

Performance Specifications

Engine 3.0 liter M TwinPower Turbo inline-six
Transmission 8-speed M Steptronic with Drivelogic
Horsepower 543 HP @ 6,250-7,200
Torque 479 lb-ft @ 2,750 to 5,950 RPM

Interior Design And Comfort

Inside, the cabin immediately sets the tone for a performance-focused experience. The M Carbon bucket seats provide incredible support, hugging you tightly during aggressive cornering while remaining surprisingly comfortable for extended drives. The high bolsters make it a bit tougher getting in and out, but hey, that’s part of the deal here.

I didn’t bother sitting in the rear seats, but it’s clear they’re more for occasional use; adults will find the space tight, but they look manageable for short trips. If you’re thinking of using car seats, the LATCH system is present, but the aggressive seat design and limited rear space make installation a challenge, unless you’re a baby seat pro.

The Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel with a red center stripe feels perfectly sized and grippy. Overall, there’s a good mix of luxury and performance with all the carbon-fibre and Alcantra surfaces throughout. Controls are intuitively placed, and the iDrive system (discussed more below) is easy to operate without being distracting. Visibility is generally good, though the thick rear pillars can create blind spots.

Technology And Ease Of Use

Most, if not all, of the tech carries over from 2024, including the 12.3-inch digital display for driver’s info, and the large 14.9-inch curved infotainment touchscreen. The 2025 M4 CS continues with BMW’s latest iDrive8 system, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Keep in mind, the M4 receives a 2025 mid-cycle refresh.

While most of the controls are found on the screen, with less hard switches and buttons now, the menus are intuitive to navigate with the rotary controller for the touchscreen. It didn’t take me long to get a hang of things, and the iDrive 8 interface is quick and responsive. During my street drives, I connected my Android to the car’s system accessing BMW’s preloaded drive route maps, and everything worked as they should.

Overall, the combination of responsive controls, clear visuals, and user-friendly design makes the M4 CS’s tech feel both sophisticated and straightforward. And BMW has kept driver engagement in mind by minimizing distractions. The head-up display splashes info directly into your line of sight, as it should, and the configurable displays allow you to prioritize what matters most. I tried the voice commands and it works well for hands-free control, and the system responds quickly to inputs. The M-specific graphics and customizable settings make it easy to tailor the tech to your driving needs, whether you’re on the road or the track.

Cargo And Storage Space

The 2025 BMW M4 CS offers a respectable level of practicality for a high-performance coupe. The trunk provides 12 cubic feet of cargo space, enough for a weekend getaway or a few track-day essentials. The wide opening and flat loading floor make it easy to load and unload items, though the trunk lip is a bit high. For added versatility, the rear seats fold down in a 60/40 split, allowing you to expand cargo space for larger items. However, folding the rear seats may require adjusting the front seats forward if they’re positioned far back.

Additional storage areas include the center console, which has enough room for small essentials, and door pockets that accommodate fairly large bottles and other items. Let’s be clear: you’re already aware storage isn’t the main focus of the M4 CS, but still manages to strike a solid balance between performance and everyday adaptability.

  • Luggage Capacity: 15.5 cubic feet

Final Thoughts On The 2025 BMW MS CS

At the end of the day, the new M4 CS balances the line between daily driver and track weapon. It’s a gorgeous-looking machine the way BMW has packaged it, especially here with the deep green and bronze wheel and brake combo. It successfully manages to blend the raw power and precision of a high-performance coupe without stepping up to a M4 GTS, with just enough refinement and decent cargo space to make it livable off the circuit, well beyond the standard M4. Now, it’s time to find $124,000.
