This is a good time to be a Ford Mustang fan. A new generation of the pony car is now on sale, and customers with deep pockets have the option of ordering the $325,000 GTD model with a racing-inspired appearance. This range-topping version has a supercharged 5.2-liter V-8, making an impressive 815 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. Plus, there are options such as active aerodynamic elements for making sure the car sticks to the road.
There have been so many limited-edition Mustangs over the years with unique color combinations or cabin materials. The company now expands that legacy with the special GTD Spirit of America model. It takes the aggressive vehicle and adds a retro color scheme to the exterior and the cabin.
The Ford Mustang GTD Spirit Of America
This special Mustang GTD takes inspiration from Ford’s color scheme for high-performance spirit in the 1960s and ‘70s. The understated appearance of this special edition includes a Performance White body with painted Race Red and Lightning Blue stripes that run from the front fascia to the rear bumper.
Each GTD Spirit of America model comes standard with the Performance package and exposed carbon-fiber exterior pieces. Plus, the “Mustang” name appears on the underside of the rear wing, and its end plates are Race Red. Customers also get to pick between Race Red or exposed carbon fiber mirror caps.
A Unique Interior
Moving inside, the GTD Spirit of America features a mix of leather and Dinamica faux-suede elements in a combination of Black Onyx and Race Red stripes on the seats. There’s also Victory Blue contrast stitching, and white elements on the seats and door panels. The paddle shifters and shift ring are 3D-printed titanium.
Customers with Mustang GTD allocations will be able to work with their assigned concierge assistants to pick one of the Spirit of America editions. Deliveries will start this spring.
TopSpeed’s Take
