When I attended the GMC Sierra EV launch event last fall, the company’s spokespeople were saying that while the top-spec Denali trim would be the only one offered at first – with a very high price tag – more affordable models would eventually trickle down through the lineup. Well, that didn’t take long as GMC just announced important updates for the 2026 lineup along with a slimmer pricing strategy. Here’s the full rundown.
2026 GMC Sierra EV Gains AT4 And Elevation Trim Levels
The big news for the 2026 model year is the addition of the AT4 and Elevation trim levels, versions that are also offered on other GMC pickup trucks. While the AT4 is more geared towards light off-roading through a series of aesthetic and mechanical enhancements, the Elevation is more of a styling package on what is otherwise a slightly more naked truck (including the removal of rear-wheel steering and CrabWalk), but sold at a much more affordable price point. About that, the price of the Elevation kicks off at $64,495. Here’s an overview of what it offers, as per GMC’s press release:
- 16.8-inch diagonal center touchscreen
- eTrunk with power-operated hood
- MultiPro Tailgate and Available MultiPro MidGate
- After Dark interior
- 18-inch machine face wheel with gloss black pocket
- Available 800-volt DC fast charge-capable, up to 300 kW
- Available 7.2-kW Energy Transfer off-boarding power system
- Available Super Cruise hands-free driver-assistance technology
The AT4 goes a step further by slightly enhancing the Sierra EV’s capability, while also giving it a more rugged, adventure-seeking look. I have personally always liked the AT4 lineup at GMC, as the models all look very purposeful and tough. The Sierra EV AT4 is no exception. Its max towing rating was also bumped to 12,300 pounds (versus 10,000 pounds). Of course, it’s not the full-fat AT4X, but my little finger tells me this is also coming soon. Pricing for the Sierra EV AT4 kicks off at $79,300 for an Extended Range model, and $89,600 for the Max Range one. Here’s what you’re getting for the price:
- Two inches of additional ground clearance
- Standard 4-Wheel Steer (featuring CrabWalk)
- Standard Super Cruise hands-free driver-assistance technology
- AT4-exclusive Forest Storm interior
- Available MultiPro MidGate expandable bed, which offers room for hauling items nearly 11 feet in length, while still leaving room for a rear-seat passenger
- Available 800 Volt DC public fast charging-capable at up to 350kW, enabling up to 100 miles of range in approximately 10 minutes
- Available 10.2-kW Energy Transfer Pro off-board power system, which includes 240-Volt and 120-Volt outlets in the truck bed
- Red illuminated GMC front badge
- Available up to 12,300 pounds max towing.
There’s actually more good news coming in the pricing department as even the top-spec Denali trims have been trimmed down. You now pay $69,700 for a Denali Standard Range, $77,900 for the Extended Range and $98,600 for the Max Range. GMC also threw in new paint colors such as Glacier White, Coastal Dune, Deep Bronze and Magnus Matte.

Why The GMC Sierra EV Won Runner-Up TopSpeed Pickup Of The Year
While it was the adorable Ford Maverick that took home TopSpeed’s 2025 Pickup of the Year award, our team of experts unanimously agreed that the Sierra EV deserved a solid second place. But why the Sierra and not its mechanical twin, the Chevrolet Silverado EV? Well, for starters, we all agreed that the Sierra is arguably more attractive than its Chevrolet equivalent.
We also preferred how its interior is appointed, feeling downright more luxurious than the Chevy. Finally, although it houses the same basic software, the fact that its infotainment system is set up in a vertical manner feels like a breath of fresh air in this era of massive, horizontal tablet displays. It’s a series of small details like this that have allowed the Sierra EV to shine brighter than the Silverado.
Although I personally found that its then starting price of $92,000 was outrageous, I actually really enjoyed my time behind the wheel of this behemoth. Yes, it weighs in at close to 10,000 pounds, but it proved surprisingly agile on a tight, winding road just outside San Francisco. The Sierra EV provides more range than you actually need, can fast-charge at a rate of 350 kW and won’t penalize you when it’s time to hook a 10,000-pound trailer behind it. The GMC Sierra EV is much more than a simple electric vehicle (EV) showpiece. It’s an actual truck that can do actual truck things.
TopSpeed’s Take
Although this news could be frustrating for owners who purchased a GMC Sierra EV while its price was through the roof, it feels great to see GMC scale down the lineup by offering more variety, more capability and, more importantly, a more affordable price point across the board. It’s also a clear indication that the Sierra EV isn’t just a technological flex, but an actual product that the automaker wants to sell. Also, by offering more trim levels, it’ll help open up the EV truck segment to people who once deemed it out of reach.
