Audi’s current small SUV, the Q3, has been on sale in its current form since 2019. The small crossover SUV is about due for a new generation as a result, and based on teaser images released by Audi this week, that’s exactly what’ll be coming down the pipe. Competing with small SUVs like the BMW X1 and the Mercedes-Benz GLA, the Q3 is a solid subcompact luxury SUV, but it is getting long in the tooth. That’ll change on June 16.

The New Q3 Is On The Way

“With a total of more than two million vehicles sold worldwide since the launch of the first generation, the Audi Q3 is one of our best-selling models and has a high status in our product portfolio,” says Gernot Döllner, CEO of AUDI AG. “With the third generation of the Audi Q3, we are renewing an important model family as part of our product initiative.”

Audi doesn’t have much more to say about the new Q3, other than the above. Of course, we know there are a few things to expect with the latest iteration. Much of that will come in the form of updated tech — now that the current SUV is a few years old, this has emerged as a point Audi will no doubt be focusing on. The automaker recently debuted its latest infotainment system in the A6, which also debuts a new aesthetic ethos for the brand. We believe the Q3 will feature some highlights from this, and the teaser shows similar square daytime running lights, much like the current Audi product.

The interior will also receive updates, likely in the form of a redesign and new features and optional extras. Expect a new look here, as well. More than likely, Audi will also update the SUV’s powertrains. Given the brand’s current multi-energy strategy, it’s expected a mild-hybrid system will be used, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see some kind of hybrid at some point in this generation’s life cycle.

TopSpeed’s Take

Audi’s updates to the Q3 should bring it current with the rest of the lineup. More than likely, it’ll be a very comprehensive shift in the Q3’s underpinnings, engine offerings, tech, and more. We’re braced for an increase in price as a result of this, though pricing will probably come later. For now, we wait for the Q3’s debut, which is set for Monday, June 16, at 3:30 PM EDT.
