BMW is updating its entire lineup with a host of new vehicles to come in the near future. SUVs have already been spotted testing with some new design features. Automakers have always had a design language that is used across each generation of vehicles they make, and BMW is no different.

last year to preview a lot of what we would expect to see from future EVs from the brand. The iX3 has already been seen testing and, even under the camouflage, there are some recognizable details from the concept. A two-door coupe has also been spied testing, which people believe may be the next M4. But, it seems BMW won’t stop there, some of these designs might make it to other vehicles.

New Vehicles Will Take Inspiration From The Neue Klasse

BMW plans to extend the Neue Klasse design to its gas-powered cars, and not just the EVs alone. A prototype believed to be the new BMW X5 had been seen testing and looked like a bigger version of the iX3 that had been seen testing earlier on. This comes as a bit of a surprise, as we would think they would have different designs since these cars are built on different platforms. BMW’s Group design director Adrian van Hooydonk confirmed this in an exclusive interview with Top Gear.

He said the production cars will have a close resemblance to the Neue Klasse concept cars. He mentioned how close the i3 and i8 production cars resembled the concepts and said the same thing was going to be done for the new cars.

BMW has also said it won’t just cut off its production of combustion cars, so the new design language will apply to those cars also. Especially the cabin experience, which will be very similar across all vehicles, from electric to ICE cars and crossovers. We already see this happening with updated vehicles like the M3 that have new headlight designs, with the DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) looking like a smaller version of the Neue Klasse lights.

Designs Are Already Completed

BMW already has a road map for its next generation of vehicles. Five electric Neue Klasse vehicles will be released in two years. BMW also says that the design for all vehicles up to 2029 has already been completed under the former BMW brand design chief Domagoj Dukec, who has now moved to Rolls-Royce. The response to the concept cars was very positive and gave BMW the go-ahead to move in this direction.
