The Harley-Davidson Breakout is the coolest chopper-styled cruiser you can get from the factory. This is also why the Breakout is a no-brainer choice for many custom motorcycles. A Japanese custom garage, Badland, has transformed a 2017 Breakout into a sinister entity with a completely blacked-out theme. Called the Oki, this custom Breakout has a wider rear tire than the already segment-leading stock size, a stretched-out wheelbase, and an aura that Batman would surely approve of.

This Custom Harley-Davidson Breakout Gets A Sinister Makeover

With An All-Black Theme

The stock 2017 Breakout is shiny, featuring numerous chrome components. But here, the Oki is the exact opposite. There are just traces of chrome inserts on this blacked-out “darkness on wheels.” Badland has extensively modified the body panels. This custom Breakout features in-house elements, including a custom fuel tank, a bespoke headlamp assembly, and a chopped front and rear fender.

It also gets a custom single-seat setup that sits lower than the stock plush seat. The most notable upgrade here is its chunkier rear tire. The stock Breakout already flaunts a sizable 240-section rear tire wrapped around an 18-inch rim. Badland dials this up to a meaty 300-section rubber. To complement the larger and chunkier rear tire, Oki also receives a custom, stretched swingarm.

Notable Custom Visual Components On The Custom Japanese-made H-D Breakout

  • Custom Badland “Outrage” 21-inch front wheel
  • Custom Badland “4-Cross” 18-inch rear wheel
  • Custom in-house made triple tree, headlight assembly, and handlebar.
  • Custom in-house chopped front and rear fenders.
  • Custom grips, mirrors, engine rocker cover, engine cam cover, and transmission side cover from Ken’s Factory
  • Custom foot controls from Performance Machine
  • Custom seat from Clione Speed

Hardware Upgrades Up the Ante

Ohlins And Brembo Added To The Mix

Badland has also outfitted this badass custom Breakout with a slew of subtle yet impactful hardware mods. It gets rebound-adjustable Ohlins suspension and Brembo brake controls for the front. The front and rear discs are from Misumi Engineering. It also gets a custom triple tree to house the Ohlins. Technology features are minimal, with the Oki’s cockpit featuring the very popular MotoGadget LCD, which boasts a cool red backlight.

No Major Upgrades To The Engine

But It Does Breathe Better

The least modified section on this Breakout is the powertrain. It retains the stock 1,690 cc air-cooled V-twin. This air- and oil-cooled engine is a long-stroke unit that produces peak torque very early, at 2,750 RPM. This should translate to swift acceleration, despite the upsized rear tire. There are no major engine upgrades on this custom Breakout.

But the combination of a modified air cleaner assembly and custom exhaust system (co-developed with KessTech) ought to make the big-twin breathe better. This should translate to better acceleration and a more pronounced note when compared to the stock setup. Although Badland does not mention it, we expect the custom exhaust system to feature valve technology, as KessTech is a brand renowned for its use of this technology.
