Back in June, we told you about Honda’s plan to whip up a replacement for its popular CRF250F trail bike. Now, that’s exactly what the CBR-maker has done. It has announced the new-for-2026 CRF300F as its new flagship trail bike that launches a direct attack on the Kawasaki KLX300R. And it costs exactly the same as the CRF250F it replaces, ensuring you get more for the same moolah.

The Honda CRF300F Is Powered By A 294cc Single-Cylinder Engine

The CRF300F replaces the popular CRF250F, and as the numbers suggest, the former has an updated engine. A 294cc, single-cylinder engine powers the 300F, joining hands with a six-speed transmission. That’s 44cc more than the 250 and one extra gear for improved versatility. Other than this, Honda claims the clutch discs have a new material for better heat resistance, while the new oil cooler improves reliability. An updated exhaust–with a blacked-out paint–completes the package.

Showa Suspension With New Settings Improves The Off-Road Prowess Of The CRF300F

As for underpinnings, the CRF300F has 41 mm Showa forks and a Pro-Link monoshock. The front has 9.5 inches of travel, whereas the rear has 9.1 inches of travel. Honda claims it has tweaked the suspension settings for the 300F for better resistance to bottoming out. These, along with the 21/18-inch spoke wheels, ensure 11.4 inches of ground clearance. That should be more than enough for the largest of boulders you’ll encounter on your trail.

While at it, you’ll also appreciate the 273-pound curb weight. That’s just seven more than the 250F. This is achieved by swapping steel for aluminum in a few places, such as the bottom triple clamp and rear shock mount. Meanwhile, the seat height lies at 35 inches (0.2 up from the 250).

Key Dimensions

  • Front suspension travel: 9.5 inches
  • Rear suspension travel: 9.1 inches
  • Wheel size: 21/18-inch spokes
  • Ground clearance: 11.4 inches
  • Weight: 273 pounds

The 2026 CRF300F Sells For $4,999

Even with all those updates, Honda has priced the CRF300F at $4,999. That’s exactly the same as the outgoing CRF250F. More importantly, it undercuts the Kawasaki KLX300R by a sizable $550. You can use that money to throw in some modifications, like a free-flow exhaust. Neither Yamaha nor Suzuki has a direct rival for the CRF, meanwhile. So what do you think of the new 300F? Yay or nay?
