Land Rover Classic will help L322-generation Range Rover owners rearm with new tech. It’s now offering an infotainment upgrade that retrofits modern Apple Carplay and Android Auto into the car’s old dash. However, only 2010-2012 model year vehicles will be able to use the upgrade, as they use the car’s original touchscreen infotainment system that Land Rover modifies to make the retrofit work.
L322 Owners Can Get Modern Infotainment In Their Range Rover
Land Rover says the retrofit “retains all the existing functionalities ‑ including the superb sound quality of the original audio system.” It does so while also adding the two phone projection software systems, allowing you to use modern navigation systems like Google Maps, Waze, and Apple Maps. Of course, users will also be able to use any of the functionality currently offered by Android Auto or Carplay, including music streaming, audiobooks, and more.
The system comes with “bespoke fixtures and fittings engineered by Land Rover Classic,” too. Interestingly, Land Rover’s press release on the new stereo also says that owners will be able to “seamlessly transfer between the legacy user interface and the new Apple and Android functions.” If for some reason you want the old interface back, you can have it. Not that you would. Land Rover hasn’t announced pricing yet, and for now, the system is only available overseas. Land Rover representatives confirmed to us, unfortunately, that the system won’t be coming Stateside. Even if it did, the system would likely be subject to tariffs that would significantly increase its price.
TopSpeed’s Take
American L322 are out of luck on this one, and it’s a shame. Adding a retrofitted infotainment system like this can revolutionize the driving experience in older cars. Porsche offers a similar retrofit for classics, and it’s quite pricey. We expect the same of Land Rover’s.
