Monterey Car Week 2025 – generically known as Pebble Beach to many – is currently underway. Arguably the world’s preeminent motoring event, countless manufacturers have showcased their latest and greatest vehicles at this glitzy and glamorous California gathering. Traditional automakers have used Car Week’s constellation of events to highlight their wares, and so are upstart firms like Lucid.

Could This Presage An Off-Road Model?

The American manufacturer of high-end electric vehicles is poised to unveil a new concept vehicle during Car Week. Lucid just teased a new version of the Gravity Grand Touring three-row utility vehicle. This SUV will be unveiled in all its presumed glory on Sunday, August 17. The machine will be parked on the concept lawn during the famed Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, basically the main event of Car Week.

Unfortunately, the automaker shared almost nothing specific about this new design study, though a trio of teaser photos was released. Studying the images seems to indicate the concept in question will be an off-road variant of the Gravity, something likely dressed in ruggedized styling and enhanced capability.

One of the photos appears to show some pumped-up side trim on the lower section of the Gravity’s body, an accent piece that’s speckled with a little dirt. Underscoring this design study’s debut location, “Pebble Beach | CA” is printed on the trim along with the appropriate longitude and latitude (36.5691 W, 121.9498 N, if you’re curious).

Another image of this mysterious new Lucid concept is a close-up shot of the wheel, again, with dirt or sand apparently flying through the air. The design of this vehicle’s rollers features a relatively flat face – apparently rendered in machined aluminum – and then there are what appear to be six square openings, one of which is outlined in orange or bright red.

Lastly, Lucid shared a picture of what looks like a light bar running between the vehicle’s roof rails. This sort of feature is a common addition to off-road-focused vehicles because extra illumination while at the campsite or out on the trail is always a good thing to have.

A Powerful And Luxurious SUV

The Gravity SUV that’s currently available is offered in one well-equipped trim: Grand Touring. With all-wheel drive, this utility vehicle has up to 828 horsepower, which is enough to propel this massive machine from 0 to 60 mph in as little as 3.4 seconds. That is a certifiably blistering performance for an SUV of this size and weight.

Even more impressive than the acceleration, though, is the Gravity Grand Touring’s range. The vehicle is estimated to be able to drive up to 450 miles with a full charge, a stellar figure for a three-row EV.

If there’s a downside to the Gravity, it’s the price. Steering clear of an optional paint color, skipping the Platinum Appearance package, making do with the standard wheels, sidestepping the optional premium interior trimmings, and avoiding any of the other options, and you can take a Gravity home for around $96,550, including $1,650 in delivery fees.
