Lynk & Co is one of the latest manufacturers to enter into the EV space, but this is not a huge surprise as it is a Chinese-owned Swedish company. China has been at the forefront of EV technology, and using one of its startup brands to push new EV vehicles is commonplace. The Z20 is going to be the company’s first EV, and making it a crossover seems to be the right move.
Photos of the production Z20 have already hit the internet, so we already have a good idea of what this vehicle will look like. However, spy shots of two prototypes were spotted testing recently, which means the Z20 is still undergoing some final testing before it is made available to the public.
It Looks Similar To The Zeekr X
Two prototypes of the Z20 were spotted testing recently, and they look very similar to the pictures leaked online. Despite the heavy camo disguise, the obvious shape and elements like the headlights and tail lights are clearly the same. It also shares many design elements with the Zeekr X, which is basically its automotive twin. Both vehicles are under the Geely umbrella and share the same SEA2 platform. This design language aligns with what we’ve seen from the Z10 sedan like the distinctive taillights, but it gets a full-width LED light bar at the rear.
The Z20 Might Make More Power
The Z20 or Z02, as it may be called in the European market, is the brand’s first EV and joins the family of SUV Coupes. It will also share a lot of technology with the aforementioned Zeekr X, like the powertrain. But, from some information available, it might have a slightly bigger 250 kW electric motor powering this car compared to 200 kW for the Zeekr, which means more power. The Z20 also seems a bit bigger than the Zeekr X, this is important since it means more usable space. It won’t be long before we see official images of this vehicle and deliveries should begin in 2025 with prices around $40,000. Unfortunately, this affordable compact SUV may not make it Stateside.
