It hasn’t been very long since the unveiling of the new BMW M5. This is an improved car in almost every way, but there is one problem everyone has with it, and that’s weight. The previous M5 was already a heavy car at 4,345 pounds, but the latest G90 M5 weighs in at 5,390 pounds, which is over 1,000 pounds more than the previous M5. However, it is the most powerful BMW M5 ever, and that compensates for the weight. But that hasn’t stopped a certain German tuner from wanting to upgrade the new M5.

Manhart has been tuning BMWs for a while now and has already started making plans on how it will upgrade the new M5. Manhart has previewed its first renders of the M5, along with some details about the power output it aims to achieve with this new car. The M5 is fast, but Manhart will make its version even faster.

Exterior Upgrades To The M5 CS

Manhart is one of those tuning companies that offers a complete package for its cars. These renders show the external changes that will be made to the M5, and the most obvious change is the color scheme, with the classic silk-matt black and gold strips. There are subtle changes to the front, with a slightly aggressive lip spoiler and dive planes. The stock wheels are also changed to Manhart’s signature 23-inch Concave One rims which it uses on most of its vehicles, complemented with new side skirts.

The rear remains similar to the normal M5, but it gets a slightly bigger spoiler, an upgraded exhaust, and a larger diffuser with gold pin strip details. Manhart plans to add a carbon fiber hood later on to complete the package. These exterior upgrades will also be done to the M5 Touring, which will also feature a spoiler on its hatch. Technical upgrades include a lower ride height and alignment for the new wheels. But the upgrades do not stop there.

More Power From The Twin-Turbo V-8

The BMW M5 is now powered by the latest S68 twin turbo V8 engine with a hybrid setup. This is the same setup used in the BMW XM. The engine produces 577 and 553 pound-feet of torque, but combined with the hybrid powertrain, you get a total output of 717 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, which rockets this car to 60 MPH in 3.4 seconds. But Manhart plans to make this faster.

It won’t touch the hybrid system but will be tuning the V8 to give the car a total output of 800 horsepower. This goes in line with the 800E in the name, which usually represents the horsepower rating of the vehicle. This means Manhart is planning to extract 63 horsepower from the V8 to give it an output of 660 horsepower, which is already more power than the previous M5 CS. The M5 is already very fast in standard form. The Manhart upgrade will make it ludicrously fast and handle much better with the suspension upgrades.
