Honda has been making some great cars lately that are very appealing. The simple but sophisticated design of the current vehicles has made them a sales hit for Honda. Over 834,000 cars have been sold in North America in the first six months of 2024. However, it’s not all good news for Honda, since some of these cars may be potential hazards.
Honda has just issued a recall for a serious issue affecting some of its latest models. This is a big one as it’s related to the latest fuel pumps used in these vehicles and numerous vehicles may be affected. This comes after Honda issued a major recall for another issue related to the steering wheel.
Faulty Fuel Pump Recall
Last week, Honda and the NHTSA issued a major recall related to the improper production of high-pressure fuel pumps that may lead to cracking under load and leaking off fuel. Continued use of these pumps in this condition can lead to further cracks and potential fire in the presence of ignition. Honda says the issue currently affects over 720,000 vehicles and is so serious that it can occur in low-mileage cars. Some people have already reported the smell of gas while the vehicle was being driven or idling.
This is another hit for Honda since it recently recalled over 1.7 million cars in October due to incorrectly assembled steering racks, which also included cars from its sister brand Acura. However, not every vehicle has been impacted by the current fuel pump issue. Honda has given a list of the vehicles affected by this issue. They include:
- 2023-2024 Honda Accord
- 2023-2024 Honda Accord Hybrid
- 2025 Honda Civic
- 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid
- 2023-2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid
Honda’s Remedy
The first warranty claim for this issue was in February 2023. Investigations began in March of the same year and finally, the issue was diagnosed in September 2024 before Honda issued the recall. As usual, owners are expected to take their cars back to dealers, where they’ll be inspected and changed free of charge.
