Not long ago, we told you MV Agusta is back in full swing after the change in ownership. And its latest reveal proves precisely that. The luxury bikemaker has taken the wraps off a new 200-HP superbike called the Superveloce 1000 Ago. It’s extremely limited in number and comes at a cost that can make a few premium cars shy away. Here’s what you get.

The MV Agusta Superveloce 1000 Ago Celebrates Giacomo Agostini’s Birthday

MV Agusta and Giacomo Agostini have had close ties for more years than we can count. After all, the racer has won multiple titles over MV race bikes, and he is one of the greatest sportsmen in the world of two-wheeler racing. Accordingly, we’ve seen several ‘Ago’ edition bikes from the bikemaker, with the Superveloce being the latest of that kind. So you get a bespoke livery that blends Fire Red Matt and Magnum Silver Matt colors (or Rosso Shock Perlato and Argento Ago).

This is bedazzled with a yellow ‘1’ racing number on each side fairing and a color-matched yellow headlight cover up top. Diving deeper, the fuel tank is a work of art in itself. It flexes a leather strap like old school race bikes, complete with a golden emblem that reads ‘15 Titoli Mondiali’. It is a homage to Agostini’s 15 world titles in motorcycle racing. The saddle, meanwhile, has a bespoke Alcantara construction with ‘Agostini’ lettering.

All this while, the usual carbon fiber treatment is present, too. While we won’t list all the 41 carbon parts, some of them include:

  • Carbon fiber fairings
  • Forged carbon fairing housing
  • Carbon fiber exhaust shield
  • Carbon fiber instrument cluster housing
  • Carbon fiber wings

A Screaming 998cc Inline-Four Engine Powers The Superveloce 1000 Ago

Under the skin, the mechanicals come from the Superveloce 1000 Serie Oro presented last year. You get a 998cc, inline-four engine, which is good for 208 horsepower and 86 pound-feet. This, along with the six-speed transmission and the quad-pipe titanium Akrapovic exhaust, will take you well ahead of 186 miles per hour. Oh, and zero to 62 miles per hour is a claimed 3.1 seconds. Since that’s wildly fast, all your needy electronic aids are standard here. Traction control, cornering ABS, quickshifter, wheelie control, rear lift mitigation….the works.

As for underpinnings, the Superveloce has MV’s rather unorthodox tubular trellis chassis. It suspends on Ohlins 43 mm USD forks with TiN finish and a 36 mm monoshock. Both have Smart EC2.0 tech for electronic control on the fly. All this while, slowing you down is a set of dual 320 mm front discs (with Brembo Stylema calipers) and a 220 mm rear disc (with a two-piston Brembo caliper).

Only 83 Units Of The MV Agusta Superveloce 1000 Ago Will Go On Sale

Remember, we said this was highly exclusive? Well, MV Agusta will sell only 83 units of the Superveloce 1000 Ago. We don’t know how many are set aside for America, but we do know the bike costs $80,098 here. That price also gets you a special welcome gift, comprising a certificate of authenticity, a premium cover, and some accessories. The latter includes CNC levers, passenger footpegs, passenger seat (in Alcantara), and carbon fiber heel guards.
