With several countries supporting EVs left, right, and center, this has inevitably urged your favorite bikemakers to whip up electric motorcycles. Honda is all set to join the party, and it’s the only one doing things properly. By that, we mean it’s the only bikemaker from Japan with a full-sized electric motorcycle coming in the near future. While we’ve already seen several teasers, the CBR maker has just put out another one with some drool-worthy details.

Honda’s First Electric Motorcycle Will Feature Fast Charging And Over 100 Miles Of Range

Diving straight in, the video shows the EV Fun concept setting European streets ablaze. You can note many details here, chief among which is a CCS charging port in the tank area. This enables automobile-grade CCS2 quick charging compatibility, meaning you will have access to many more charging stations than a typical electric two-wheeler.

Then, there’s the large TFT display, unlike any other Honda motorcycle. While the exact functions are unclear, we can see the charge reading 34 percent with 27 miles of range remaining. That suggests a full charge range of over 120 miles. Let’s not forget this is theoretical and during testing conditions. So we can see either a drop or an increment in the total range. Nevertheless, the 120-mile number is right in the ballpark of the LiveWire S2 trio.

Other already known but confirmed details include:

  • Fixed battery pack
  • Belt-driven motor
  • Non-adjustable USD forks
  • Adjustable monoshock
  • Nissin brakes
  • Single-sided swingarm

Honda’s First Electric Motorcycle Has Unbeatable Origins

If you’re someone who follows the industry–particularly Honda–closely, you’ll know who Masatsugu Tanaka is. In case you don’t, this is the person who’s led the development project of some of your favorite Hondas, such as the CBR1000RR, CBR600RR, Gold Wing, and CBR600F. He also helped birth RF800F, VFR1200F, VFR1200X CrossTourer, Africa Twin, and NT1100. For his latest challenge, Tanaka is now heading the development of the EV Fun concept (aka Honda’s first electric motorcycle).

Masatsugu Tanaka says:

“Building on my 20 years of experience with Honda’s ICE motorcycle models, we have applied the knowhow accumulated over these years to the EV motorcycle, to create a model that is genuinely exciting to ride. We have done extensive testing in Europe – where our customers are – to evaluate riding performance, charging, and daily usability, carefully refining every aspect of the model to ensure that our customers have a reliable ride that lets you focus on pure enjoyment. A new Honda FUN EV is coming soon, and we can’t wait for you to feel it.”
