After Kawasaki stepped into the world of EVs, we all know it would urge other Japanese brands to step up their game. Doing just that, Honda has now joined the party with its first full-sized electric motorcycle–called the WN7–for the global market. While the teasers have been flowing for a while, the bikemaker has finally revealed some of the much-anticipated details now. Without further ado, let’s jump in.
The Honda WN7 Has An 18kW Water-Cooled Motor
Performance was one of the biggest question marks. Luckily, Honda isn’t gatekeeping that anymore. The bikemaker claims the WN7 has an 18kW water-cooled motor at heart, good for around 73 pound-feet of torque. Honda claims these figures make the EV comparable to 600cc internal combustion motorcycles. It’s a bit hard to believe, considering 600cc bikes usually make upwards of 70 kW (~95 horsepower). The claim isn’t backed up by any performance figures, either. What we do know is that the WN weighs 478 pounds–just 12 pounds up from the CBR650R E-Clutch.
Moving on, the motorcycle hides a fixed lithium-ion battery pack. It is said to be good for a maximum range of over 80 miles. That’s not bad, but not great either. The highlight, though, is the automotive-grade CCS2-compatible rapid charging compatibility. It allows you to juice up from 20 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes. With a 6kVA wall box charger, the claim for a zero-to-full charge is three hours.

Modern-Day Features Are Plenty On The Honda WN7
Aside from the numbers, we also know the WN7 has a five-inch TFT instrument cluster. The display lets you fine-tune riding characteristics while featuring RoadSync connectivity and exclusive EV menus. All-LED lighting is present as well. A special mention also goes to the design. It’s unlike any other Honda, but still appears ‘normal’ in comparison to “futuristic” EVs. Design elements like the contrast rose gold panels, bar-end mirrors, and single-sided swingarm further boost the appeal.
The Honda WN7 Is Not Easy On The Pocket
For now, Honda has launched the WN7 only in Britain and Europe. There, it is priced at £12,999, which equates to almost $18,000. That is rather steep for the performance you get, considering the likes of LiveWire S2 Del Mar offer similar oomph at a much lower price tag. Nevertheless, we’ll wait for the complete and final specifications before jumping to conclusions. Till then, do let us know what you think of this Honda EV!
