Porsche offered its dizzying Pasha fabric on models during the late 1970s and early 1980s. The pattern was a psychedelic take on a checkerboard, featuring black and white elements of varying sizes and shapes. The style took inspiration from waving checkered flags. The garish styling definitely wasn’t to everyone’s taste, but some Porsche fans fell in love with the flashy appearance.
The brand now revives the retro pattern for the limited-run Porsche 911 Spirit 70. The model pays tribute to the automaker’s output in the ’70s and has a limited run of just 1,500 units worldwide. The vehicle is the third in a series of retro-inspired models, following the 911 Targa
4S Heritage Design Edition and the 911 Sport Classic.
Reviving The Spirit Of The ’70s
The Spirit 70 edition uses the rear-wheel-drive 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet as its starting point. From there, Porsche covers the body in the special Olive Neo color, which is unique to this model. The automaker’s announcement describes the shade as “a rich, green,” but it appears to be more of a yellow hue, judging from the photos and video of the car.
The retro touches include a blocky 911-branded stripe on the hood and a version of the Porsche crest identical to the one on 1963 models. The flanks feature graphics that include a Porsche-script stripe and a racing number. If these elements don’t meet a buyer’s personal style, they can specify that the company remove them. Gold-plated Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur badges are on the front fenders. The wheels also have a vintage-inspired appearance with five thick spokes with a Bronzite gold-gray finish and a center-locking design.
“Every design of our vehicles ties in with our history – and these vehicles go one step further. They show how we reinterpret historical design elements in a state-of-the-art sports car,”
– said Michael Mauer, Vice President of Style Porsche.
Stepping Inside
Traditionally, the Pasha material used velour fabric in black and white. However, Porsche has a special take on the textile for the 911 Spirit 70. This version uses a combination of textile and flock yarn and features a color scheme that mixes Olive Neo and black. The fabric appears on the center sections of the seats, door panels, the front trunk mat, and even inside the glove box. Decorative inlays in the same pattern are available for the dashboard and seat backrests as no-cost options. The leather trim is Basalt Black Club with Olive Neo stitching. Porsche’s photos of the cabin include one picture showing a custom child’s car seat with a Pasha section, so a kid could ride in style.
The vibrant exterior color scheme and unique take on the Pasha fabric create a very special vehicle.
The special model also has some smaller retro cues. The digital instrument cluster features a Spirit 70 graphic and green digits, a reference to the gauges on vintage Porsches. White pointers and emerald-colored digits are on the Sport Chrono stopwatch.
Buyers of the 911 Spirit 70 have the exclusive opportunity to buy a Porsche Chronograph that matches the car. It has a shiny black Pasha pattern on the dial and green elements that match portions of the interior.

TopSpeed’s Take
The 911 Spirit 70 should appeal to fans of classic Porsches. The vibrant exterior color scheme and unique take on the Pasha fabric create a very special vehicle. Plus, the latest GTS is arguably the sweet spot in the current lineup. It has ample power but is more comfortable for everyday driving than the GT3. The mix of classic elements and modern amenities makes this quite an intriguing machine.
