While experts suggest the two-wheeler market is slowing down, some companies are setting the stage on fire. One such company is Royal Enfield, which is expanding its horizons each year with likable global products. The result? A new annual sales record that could give American brands like Harley-Davidson and Indian a head rush. Here’s what you need to know.
Royal Enfield Sets New Annual Sales Record Of Over 1 Million Motorcycles
2024 was a banging year for Royal Enfield. The Indian giant sold a whopping 1,009,900 motorcycles between March 2024 and March 2025 (the Indian financial year). This was a sizable 11 percent year-on-year increase over the previous financial year. In case you’re curious, the number is almost 10 times as much as what Harley-Davidson managed in 2024.
Now, we know you can argue a large majority of these sales are from RE’s domestic market and the most populous country (India). But look deeper, and you’ll see the bump in sales is driven by a sizable 37 percent rise in RE’s global sales. The brand managed to sell 107,143 motorcycles outside of India alone.
That’s 44,000 units shy of Harley-Davidson’s entire 2024 sales, including all markets, including America, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. We know H-D is a more premium brand, but this goes to show the market for “budget-friendly” bikes is a much better bet. The American giant is realizing that, too. And it shows, as we’ve seen the Motor Company dabble into the entry-level segment in Asia and announce aggressive price cuts for some of its heavy-hitters.

An Extensive Mid-Capacity Lineup Helps Royal Enfield Attract A Variety Of Riders
Why is RE becoming a hit in global markets? Credit here goes to its 650cc platform. What started in 2018 as a two-bike lineup has progressed into an extensive six-bike assortment. Each of these six bikes promises a different riding experience, meaning all kinds of riders have something to look forward to. The fact that the 648cc, parallel-twin engine has no major reliability woes and all bikes have aggressively low prices makes matters sweeter.
Things will get even better in the near future, meanwhile. RE is planning to whip up a new 750cc platform to take over from the 650s, alongside a new 450cc liquid-cooled lineup based on the new Himalayan’s engine. All these bikes have global intentions and aim to steal sales from popular European names. So it wouldn’t be surprising if that 1 million sales record gets broken soon.
