Shelby American Reveals Ford F-150 Baja Raptor and 900+ HP Raptor R Packages

Shelby American just revealed its latest and greatest concoctions, the 2024 Shelby Ford F-150 Baja Raptor lineup, ahead of its official debut at the world-famous Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. Consisting of two packages, one for the standard Ford F-150 Raptor and another for the F-150 Raptor R, both dress up and boost performance of the iconic Dearborn-bred pickups, continuing Shelby’s long lineage of modifying F-150s to make some of the fastest, most powerful, and capable modded pickups in all the land, and the Raptor R variant boasts at least 900 horsepower, according to the tuning firm.

The latest Shelby F-150 will be available in two forms, the Shelby Baja Raptor and the Shelby Raptor R, both of which continue the company’s tradition for making high-performance F-150s with toughened-up off-road chops, on top of the company’s long-standing tradition for modifying and making insanely fast and powerful Mustangs.

Some Serious F-150s For The Serious Off-Road Enthusiast

It begins with the 2024 Shelby Ford F-150 Baja Raptor, which starts life as a current third-generation F-150 Raptor. It then gets sent through the Shelby American finishing program and upon graduation, the Raptor gains a whole list of performance upgrades, upping the EcoBoost V-6’s power output to 550 hp, up from the stock unit’s 450 hp. This happens thanks to upgrades such as a high-performance intake with a high-flow filter and custom intake tube, as well as an upgraded intercooler for the turbochargers.

But more power isn’t just the main highlight of the package as the Shelby F-150 Baja Raptor also gains a laundry list of exterior and interior upgrades. Such includes a bespoke SHELBY-badged Baja Raptor, hood with enlarged vents and air ducts, standard power running boards with integrated puddle lights, an upgraded SHELBY grille with LED lights, bumper upgrades both fore and aft, which also includes a standard 30-inch LED light bar up front with dual 10-inch LED driving flights, and additional LED brake lights for the rear.

A bed chase rack system is also standard, incorporating mounts for additional full-size spare tires, a power-actuated 50-inch rear-facing light bar, and more. The interior also gets the treatment with billet metal racing pedals, Shelby embroidered floor mats and seat backs with red accents, and a serialized dashboard and engine plaque.

Should potential buyers want even more and get the full 900-hp Monty, Shelby also offers similar upgrades for the F-150 Baja Raptor R. It obviously starts life as a standard F-150 Raptor R, but Shelby’s package upgrades and massages the 5.2-liter Carnivore V-8 to punch out that said 900 horses, thanks to an upgraded Bengal Red Whipple 3.8-liter supercharger, a high-flow intake manifold, a Shelby custom-tuned Borla performance exhaust system, and beefier suspension and brake upgrades as well. And those 900 horses need nothing more than premium octane 93 pump gas in order to get them fully unleashed out of the stable.

“We launched our first Shelby edition Ford Raptor not long after our founder Carroll Shelby passed away,” Gary Patterson, president of Shelby American, said in his official statement. “As Carroll was personally involved in the direction of that V8 powered muscle truck, it was a tribute to his vision of a high performance off-road companion to the Shelby GT500 Mustang. The truck was a great success, as was the more recent V6 powered Shelby edition Ford Raptor. For the 2024 model year, we are celebrating Shelby’s long off-road heritage with both a V6 and V8 powered Shelby Raptor, giving enthusiasts even more choices for their adventures.”

Should either of the Shelby F-150 Baja Raptor packages be of interest, one has to first acquire a 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor or Raptor R, then put up an additional $61,995 for the Baja Raptor Package and $64,995 for the Raptor R package.
