The Monster moniker holds serious value in Ducati’s portfolio. It’s the lineup that somewhat revived the brand back in the day, and that’s why the Italian giant keeps updating the bike every few years to fit the times rather than pulling the plug. Doing exactly this, Ducati is ready to give us a new generation Monster for model year 2026. While leaked documents confirmed its arrival, we now have the first spy shots of the new bike. Let’s unravel the details.

The Upcoming Ducati Monster V2 Will Feature New Chassis Parts

At a quick glance, the Monster V2’s test mule looks identical to the bike currently on offer. But compare them side by side, and some noteworthy things come to light. First, there’s a new hollow swingarm that looks inspired by the Panigale V4. To jog your memory, such a setup improves rigidity while reducing weight.

Above the new swingarm is an updated subframe. Unlike the existing GFRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer) subframe, there seems to be a new aluminum setup. It appears visibly sleeker and longer than the outgoing model. Topping these is a set of new wheels–again expected to help shed weight.

We also get a good look at the ergonomics. The tank appears new (with more aggressive cutouts to hold your knee), along with a repositioned flat handlebar and roomier seat. Everything else looks carried on, be it the Brembo monobloc calipers, the underslung rear caliper, 43 mm USD fork, or the monoshock.

Key Changes

  • Revised ergonomics
  • New swingarm
  • New subframe
  • New wheels

A New 890cc V-twin Engine Will Power The Ducati Monster V2

Like the underpinnings, a big change also comes to the powerhouse. Out will go the 937cc Testastretta engine, and the new 890cc V2 mill will take its place. The engine casing and headers confirm the same in the spy shots. As a refresher, the new engine is Ducati’s lightest twin-cylinder mill yet and produces a maximum of 120 horsepower in road-legal trim.

In the Monster, you can expect it to boast between 110 and 115 horsepower. That’s because Ducati would want to position this lower than its premium middleweight: the Streetfighter V2. Moving on, we also see a new exhaust and radiator. The former has two outlets while the latter is much larger than the current model’s setup.

New Ducati Monster V2 Expected Performance

Engine

890cc, V-twin

Power

~110 HP

Torque

~69 LB-FT

Transmission

Six-speed

The New Monster V2 Will Debut In The Next Few Months

The test mule of the Monster V2 looks close to completion. Yet, it’s clear Ducati is still testing things out. So we expect its debut to take place in a few months, probably close to the fourth quarter of 2025. Whenever it’s here, the Monster will certainly have its fair share of middleweight competition to worry about from all around the world. Let’s hope it gets a price cut to improve its market position, just like the Panigale and Streetfighter V2. For reference, the current Monster starts at $12,995–considerably higher than all of its key rivals.
