Ever since the 650cc platform debuted, fans have been begging Royal Enfield to whip up a middleweight Himalayan. The Indian brand is finally accepting that request now, as spy shots of a new flagship adventure bike are regularly surfacing on the internet. The latest ones come from Europe and reveal a production-ready machine undergoing real-world tests.

The New Himalayan Will Feature Royal Enfield’s 750cc Parallel-Twin Engine

One look at the test mule, and the engine will grab the biggest eyeballs. From afar, the casings and shape match the 648cc, parallel-twin mill from the current 650 lineup. But a closer look reveals intrinsic changes that suggest this is an evolution of RE’s parallel-twin mill. Add to that the rumors from India, and we’re sure this is the new 750cc mill RE is working on.

It is expected to produce over 50 ponies and 40 pound-feet via a six-speed transmission. This should position it right between middleweights like the Moto Morini X-Cape 700 and premium entry-level bikes like the Honda NX500. More importantly, the output would mean it’s considerably more powerful than the 39-HP Himalayan 450 on sale right now.

A Neo-Retro Design And Large Proportions Elevate The Himalayan 750’s Appeal

The Himalayan 450 has a likable design. And the 750 follows in the footsteps. There’s a round LED headlight up top, flanked by a tall, slotted windscreen and muscular side panels. Interestingly, there’s a conventional fender up top, rather than a motocross-inspired unit like the 450. This suggests RE will sell this as an ADV-tourer rather than a proper off-roader. No crash protection for the bodywork and the presence of quick-release luggage mounts paint a similar picture.

As for underpinnings, you get all the usual suspects. A set of 19/17-inch spoke wheels is present, shod with dual-purpose rubber. The front end wears dual disc brakes with ByBre calipers, which we also saw on the INT 750 test mule. All this is paired with long-travel suspension (USD forks and monoshock), where the former appears sourced from Showa (as is the norm with RE bikes).

RE Himalayan 750 Underpinnings

  • Chassis: Steel tubular
  • Front suspension: USD forks
  • Rear suspension: Monoshock (adjustable)
  • Wheels: 19/17-inch spoke wheels
  • Brakes: Dual discs (front)/single disc (rear)

The Himalayan 750 Could Debut By The End Of 2025

As we reported earlier, the first 750cc Royal Enfield is expected to be the Continental GT-R. It will debut by late 2025, and we expect the Himalayan to follow closely. The latest test mule also appears ready for production, with just a few final touches missing. Whenever it’s here, you can expect it to boast a competitive MSRP. We believe Royal Enfield will price it in the $7,000-7,500 ballpark. That would be about $1,500 more than the 450 and right in contention with bikes like the X-Cape 700.
