It appears tariff troubles are finally catching up to the motorcycle world. And as expected, the first hit is coming to the electric motorcycle segment. We say so because Zero Motorcycles has just announced a price update is in the progress for its recently revealed XB and XE.
The Zero XB And XE Will Become Pricier After May 18, 2025
The XB and XE broke cover in November, 2024. Six odd months later, the bikemaker has announced the prices will rise soon as “Zero navigates the effects of tariffs and recent changes in the global economic landscape.” The current price stands at $4,195 for the XB and $6,495 for the XE. What remains unclear is the new MSRP for each bike and by how much this price will rise. However, we can tell you you have several days to enjoy the current price.
That’s because whoever registers/books the motorcycles before May 18, 2025 will be able to enjoy the above-mentioned prices. Post that, you’ll have to bear an updated MSRP, which will account for the added import fees. It’s quite interesting, since Zero usually suggests its motorcycles are “made-in-America”. Anyway, If you have booked either bike already, you’ll get the delivery soon. But if you’ve made the booking post May 1, Zero claims the delivery timeline will be some time in fall of 2025.
Sam Paschel, CEO of Zero Motorcycles, said:
“Our customers are at the heart of everything we do. And by honoring prices for early reservation holders – despite the shifting global economy – we’re reinforcing our position as the leader in the electric space and building the future of two-wheel transportation.”
The XE And XB Serve As Entry-Level Dual-Sport Machines For EV Fans
To talk about the bikes, both of these are purpose-built machines for the uncommon path. The XB is Zero’s lightest machine yet, weighing just 139 pounds ready to ride. You get a 7.5 kW battery (10 horsepower), that enables a peak speed of 28 miles per hour. A 2.4 kWh battery pack joins the party to ensure 47 miles of peak range. Fully adjustable suspension with over 5.9 inches of travel, 19/19-inch spoke wheels, and single petal rotors round things off.
As for the XE, it has a 15.5 kW mid-mounted motor for a top speed of 53 miles per hour. Thanks to a bigger battery, the range rises to 65 miles in one go. Similarly, the underpinnings are better. The suspension offers over 7.9 inches of travel, the wheels measure 21/18-inch, and the weight rises to 223 pounds. To counter the heft, the brakes now have 240 mm front and 220 mm rear disc brakes.
