As carmakers build and sell more electric vehicles (EVs), prices will steadily go down. This is what we call economies of scale. Tesla has been showcasing this for a while now with all of its models, but it took a while for the rest of the auto industry to catch up.
With vehicles like the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E – which undergoes a slew of significant changes at a more affordable price point – we’re finally witnessing a move from carmakers to steadily make their EVs more attainable, all while injecting them with even more content.
2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E Now Starts At $36,495
The first big change for 2025 (this is odd considering that Ford facelifted the car in 2024), is the $3,500 price drop. It brings the Mach-E to a starting price of $38,490. Unfortunately, the Mach-E is not built in the U.S., so it’s not eligible for any tax credits.
But at that price, you’re also getting more car for your hard-earned dollar. For starters, all Mach-Es now come standard with a heat pump, which should help them pull better range during cold weather driving. Ford also injected the Mach-E with the latest version of the BlueCruise hands-free highway driving. It apparently adds automatic lane change and will automate 45% of lane changes during an average drive. From Donna Dickinson, Mustang Mach-E chief engineer:
We’ve built strong relationships with our customers over the last four years, and continue to make upgrades based on their feedback. We’re dedicated to giving them the best version of Mustang Mach-E possible, and that means giving them features they have been asking for, like the new heat pump and more interior space up front.
New Sport Appearance Package Inspired By The Mach-E GT
There’s also a new Sport Appearance Package for Premium trim level. Inspired by the high-performance GT model, it includes a sportier front fascia and grille shield. There are red Brembo brake calipers, as well as 19-inch wheels that are specific to this package. Wheel lips and door cladding are also all black.
Inside, the package adds red accent stitching and sport pedals. Furthermore, all Premium models now get standard ventilated front seats. All Mach-E also get a column-mounted gear selector now, which replaces the old center-mounted dial shifter. According to Ford, this frees up space on the center console.
Finally, all 2025 Mach-Es get Ford’s new Connectivity Package which includes a Wi-Fi hotspot, access apps to watch YouTube or stream music through Spotify, as well as connected navigation. Beware: these do require a subscription plan. But Ford throws in a one-year complimentary trial. The 2025 Mach-E will go on sale early next year.
