Whenever BMW announces a new M product, it’s a cause for celebration. A new M model represents the next level of performance and showcases the latest technology BMW has to offer. We’ve seen the new M5 which has become a hybrid, but despite the negative press about its weight, it’s definitely the next evolution of BMW M cars.

We’re also expecting the M3 replacement, but that may still be a while away. The current M3 has just received a mid-cycle refresh to keep it updated, but the latest information about the next M3 means the current M3 might stick around for a while.

The BMW May Arrive In 2028

It is no longer news that BMW is already developing the new M3 code-named G84, and we’ve also got details about its powertrain. However, the latest information suggests that the current M3 still has some time to live before the new one is released. An anonymous, but reliable insider has gotten hold of some leaked documents stating that the G84 M3 will arrive in 2028. This means we may have to wait another four years before the M3 is replaced.

If this source is correct, then this will be one of the longest-production M3 models since the E36. There are no details about the design, but it will be launched alongside the electric M3. It further states that the production duration of the M3 will commence in 2028 and conclude in 2034, in accordance with the typical M3 lifecycle. This also confirms the termination of the M4 and manual transmission for the M3.
