Toyota’s preparing a send-off for the current generation of A90 GR Supra with two special final edition models, but for top-paying European customers only, for now. Today, Toyota revealed the GR Supra A90 Final Edition and the GR Supra Lightweight Evo, all to commemorate the model’s nearly six-year series production run.

As suggested by their official names, the GR Supra A90 Final Edition celebrates this model’s series production run, while the GR Supra Lightweight Evo is a unique performance model, both of which sport a wide variety of changes when compared to the standard GR Supra.

Two Special Supras For Dedicated Fans

Beginning with the GR Supra Lightweight Evo model, this special edition is a result of unique customer demand in Europe, who expressed interest in a harder-edged, lightweight version of the current Supra with a greater bias towards a more focused driving experience and handling. Think of it as a faster and more performance-oriented model, like what the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is to the standard 911, or the Mazda MX-5 Miata Club is to the standard Miata.

As such, the GR Supra Lightweight Evo benefits from a long list of chassis and suspension upgrades, including a reduction in overall weight to improve the vehicle’s handling and overall performance. Such specifcs include optimization of the electronically-controlled dampers, a stiffer front stabilizer bar, beefier suspension bushings in various locations front and rear, and a stiffer under-body brace to improve chassis torsional rigidity.

Other improvements include revised exterior body panels to contribute to the weight reduction and improve aerodynamics and at-speed stability, as well as tweaks to the car’s steering box and electric power steering assist to boost road feel and weighting. It’s all then complemented with a range of visual upgrades both inside and out, including unique 19-inch black-painted wheels, an Alcantara-lined interior, and contrast leather and color stitching.

The GR Supra A90 Final Edition Marks The End

As for the GR Supra A90 Final Edition, the commemorative model benefits from an equally if not longer list of upgrades, including more power, bespoke appointments and accessories, and other improvements all around. Most notably, the Supra A90 Final Edition gets a nice power bump to 425 horsepower versus 340, and 420 pound-feet of torque versus 369.

The result is not just quicker acceleration, but a higher top speed of 168 MPH, a bump of around 12 MPH from 156 MPH. To handle the extra speed and performance while improving handling, the Final Edition comes uniquely with adjustable KW dampers, with up to 16 rebound and 12 compression settings, depending on the road conditions. Toyota’s engineers also adjusted the car’s camber angle at both the front and rear axles to aid in the improvement of handling, which increases overall grip, while the differential also received a few tweaks to reduce understeer.

Other improvements include revisions to the steering rack and system for a more direct feel, wider tires for better stability in the corners, enhanced brakes for greater stopping power, and lightweight 19-inch wheels up front and 20-inch wheels in the rear.

The engine also gains improvements to its lubrication system to prevent oil starvation at higher g forces in the corners, a heavy-duty radiator, and revised cooling fins for the rear differential to assist with cooling under harder driving conditions.

The GR Supra A90 Final Edition is limited to just 300 production units in total, worldwide.
