It’s interesting that I’m writing a news piece on the Honda Prologue because I actually just got out of a press unit which I shall review here soon. Spoiler alert: it’s not a Honda, it’s actually a very good electric vehicle (EV) from GM. But you already knew that. Underneath its skin lies essentially a Chevrolet Blazer EV, but with the added benefit of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Yet, none of that seems to be a problem with U.S. car buyers, because the Prologue is actually doing pretty well. Very well, indeed. As a matter of fact, Honda’s first-ever mass-production EV is outselling some of Honda’s most popular models, and even stealing the lunch money from competing EVs. Here’s the full rundown.
Honda Sold More Electric SUVs Than Some Of Its Gas Models
Honda released its November sales data, and it’s truly impressive to see the Prologue’s strong start. This is an EV that has only been on sale as of this model year, yet, it’s flying off dealer lots amidst somewhat of an EV backlash in the U.S. For reference, Honda sold more Prologue EVs than it sold Odyssey minivans.
But that last bit of information doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering that minivans have been on a downward slope since SUVs took over. What’s truly impressive is how the Prologue outsold even one of Honda’s stalwart SUVs, the Passport, as well as the Ridgeline pickup truck. Furthermore, as we compare Prologue sales between November and October, we can clearly see that demand for Honda’s EV is rising.

Honda Prologue Outsold Key EV Rivals In September
The Prologue didn’t just outsell Honda’s own gas-powered models. Back in September, it also outsold some seriously solid EVs. If we are to base ourselves on U.S. new light-vehicle registrations in September from Automotive News’ Data Center, we’re noticing that Honda’s EV (4,116) outsold the Kia EV6 (16,205), the Hyundai IONIQ 6 (789), the Toyota bZ4X (1,571), the Volkswagen ID.4 (374), the Nissan Ariya (1,809), and even the Cadillac LYRIQ (2,723), which shares some of its mechanical components with the Prologue.
So, while some may have accused Honda of not developing its own EV and borrowing existing GM technology to get into the EV game, it seems the market doesn’t really have a problem with that. It’s also a testament of how good GM’s Ultium architecture is in the EV space, proving that a good EV remains a good EV, no matter the badge on its hood. I’ll be reviewing the Honda Prologue soon, so stay tuned.
