Maserati quietly and recently rolled out a new expansion for its compact Grecale SUV, specifically broadening the car’s color palette and choice of wheel options for 2025. Although not exactly a major update, such as a mid-cycle refresh or a completely new model, given that the Grecale just launched in 2022 as a 2023 model-year car, the new color selection and pool of wheel choices add more versatility to the Grecale’s configurability for those who want to truly hone in on their choice of hue and overall appearance.

The diversification in color choices for both the exterior and interior, as well as the new wheel designs, are all complements of Maserati’s in-house individualization branch, Fuoriserie. It’s essentially Maserati’s equivalent to Mercedes-Benz’s MANUFAKTUR and BMW’s Individual programs, which enable buyers to customize their cars from the factory at the behest of their desires and wallet.

The Grecale Is Now Available With 37 Different Exterior Color Choices

With up to eleven new exterior body colors now available as standard, with the Fuoriserie upgrades adding nine solid and metallic choices, four-new matte paints, and thirteen three- and four-layer new pearlescent hues, Maserati says the Grecale can be configured in over 2,000 combinations. These combinations also come thanks to new choice materials for the interior trim, interior graphics, and even different types of hides, with a total of eleven Fuoriserie seating options.

Five additional new wheel designs join the list of preexisting choices for all models, which can also be paired with a choice of several different colored brake calipers. Without any specific customization from Fuoriserie, the Grecale GT already comes with 20-inch diamond-cut rims, a premium leather interior and power 12-way heated front seats. The Modena gains 21″ diamond-cut wheels and some other additional amenities.

Going into the 2025 model year, the Grecale still comes in a total of four different trims, which determine the level of standard equipment, powertrain, and even luxury. The base model GT still starts just a shade under $70,000 with a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline inline-four with mild-hybrid assist, and 296 horsepower on tap. The result is a not-too-shabby 0-60 MPH sprint in just 5.3 seconds.

The next-level Modena comes with the same engine, but 325 horses, which drops the 0-60 MPH sprint to five seconds flat, along with other upgrades like trick matrix-LED headlights, a limited-slip differential, and adaptive air suspension for improved performance and handling. Topping off the gas-powered versions is still the high-performance Trofeo, with its Nettuno 3.0-liter bi-turbo V-6, good for 523 horses and a 0-60 time of just 3.6 seconds.

New for 2025 is the all-electric Grecale Folgore, which boasts a total system output of 542 hp, resulting in a 0-60 time of just four seconds flat. A 105-kilowatt-hour battery pack powers the Folgore’s dual-motor arrangement.

But if you had to ask, yes, the gas-powered Trofeo is still quicker and will likely handle better as well.

“Grecale is a model of fundamental importance for our brand and for the entire Maserati range. With the SUV, we wanted to expand our commercial offering to meet the needs and desires of our customers, by providing a variety of options that combine performance, elegance and innovation,” Santo Ficili, Maserati’s CEO, said in his official statement. “This approach reflects our dedication to the consumer to meet and exceed their expectations, ensuring that each of our models epitomizes the excellence of Italian luxury: our network is ready to ensure the very best selection, purchasing and assistance experience.”

TopSpeed’s Take

Italians care just as much about the styling of their vehicles as their performance. So, it’s no surprise that Maserati expanded its color and wheel choices to help lure prospective and affluent buyers back to the brand. The Grecale is very deserving of attention from just a stylistic and even exclusive point of view. As a Maserati should be.
