Bugatti is the premier boutique car manufacturer of the modern era. This started with the production of the Bugatti Veyron which set the standard so high that it created a new class of supercars. From its exotic powertrain to bespoke paint colors and materials At the time, Bugatti was in a league of its own. When its replacement was finally shown in 2016, it blew our minds as it had a completely different design from the Veyron, but it had every element that made it a Bugatti.

The Chiron became another successful model, even though it was more expensive than its predecessor. The Chiron would be produced in different variations but retain the same overall design and remain in production until 2024. Its replacement was later shown in June 2024, known as the Tourbillion. While it is a stunning vehicle, it looked like an evolution of the Chiron. But in October, Bugatti released some never-seen photos of what the Bugatti Chiron would have looked like.

The Chiron Looked A Lot Like The Veyron

Bugatti released the Veyron in 2005, but three years later, in 2008, Bugatti had already started working on its replacement. There were many designs and revisions made, but the above picture gives us an insight into what the Chiron would have looked like. From these scale models created, you could see that the Chiron took huge inspiration from the Veyron with the overall shape and design flow. Each one was created with unique elements, but one thing that remains constant is that classic, Veyron shape.

Bugatti played a lot with the headlights and taillight design to see what would suit this new vehicle. Some incorporated sleek headlights which sometimes look like they weren’t even there, and some of these design elements could be found on limited-edition vehicles like the one-off La Voiture Noire. Many revisions to the taillights were also made, with some stacking the quad taillights on top of each other and others taking different forms, including C-shaped and light strips.

There are many elements of the final Chiron not seen here, but that is to be expected, as Bugatti only shared initial models of what the Chiron would have looked like. But from these models released, we can see that the second model at the top looks closer to the Chiron’s taillight design, while the third model at the bottom looks like the front of the Chiron.

A Rich History Spanning 115 Years

Companies like Bugatti don’t just randomly drop pictures like this on the internet without a purpose. These images and many more were released to the public ahead of a two-day seminar to be held at the Loh Collection on the 8th and 9th of November 2024. The Loh Collection was previously a privately owned car collection in Germany with over 150 cars of significance from Le Mans-winning Audi, Fangio’s 1957 German Grand Prix-winning Maserati 250F, and a horde of prototypes which has now been converted to a National Museum to showcase the history of these cars.

The National Automuseum The Loh Collection is hosting an exclusive seminar on the world and history of the Bugatti brand. Previously unknown archive material and imagery will be showcased, exploring the evolution of the brand over time.

The Museum will be hosting various Bugatti executives like CEO Mate Rimac and various Bugatti executives and designers to discuss the history of Bugatti and their involvement in building the brand in the modern Era. This will be a complete breakdown of Bugatti’s almost 120-year history, fully supported with artifacts and even more design images from Bugatti. They also plan to discuss how the Tourbillon came to be, which is not surprising since it’s a detailed history of the brand.
