Despite having a gorgeous lineup of roadsters, Triumph Motorcycles only offers one pure café racer today. It is the Thruxton RS, which will soon bow out in style. We do have the Speed Triple 1200 RR flaunting a half-fairing, but we wouldn’t call this naked sports bike a pure café racer. It is, too, going away. What do you do then? Simple, hit up Triumph’s French division. We say so because a French Triumph dealer has a solution with its take on a custom café racer based on a very popular middleweight Triumph roadster.

This Custom Triumph Cafe Racer Is Based On A Trident 660

Based on a 2024 Triumph Trident 660, this custom café racer cleverly uses parts already offered by Triumph. The dolphin fairing you see here is an accessory for the Thruxton RS. To help mount the Thruxton RS’s fairing, this 660 gets custom forkhead support. The upper fork yoke has also been reworked.

Additionally, it gets new handlebar clip-ons for a more aggressive rider triangle. At the rear, it gets a minimal custom job with a clean rear seat shell. The single-seater setup flaunts a cool custom Alcántara seat that matches the color scheme with gold stitching. Topping all this, the paint job is a gorgeous mix of black and gold accents.

The Engine And Underpinnings Remain Unchanged From The Trident 660

Power: 81 Horsepower

There are no engine or hardware modifications on this custom Trident 660. It continues to be powered by a 660 cc triple that produces 81 horsepower and 47 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox. This is a very torquey powertrain, with Triumph claiming that nearly 90 percent of it kicks in at just 3,650 RPM.

The tubular steel perimeter main frame, swingarm, and sub-frame mostly remain unchanged. Suspension duties are taken care of by Separate Fork Function Showa inverted forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are courtesy of Nissin calipers coupled to twin 310 mm discs up front and a single 255 mm disc at the rear. It flaunts sticky tarmac tires wrapped around 17-inch aluminum wheels.

We suspect a marginal bump in its curb weight, though, due to the addition of the semi-fairing and its support system here. But it won’t be enough to hurt the performance or handling. Technology features have also been untouched here. The Trident Cafe racer has ABS and traction control, plus two ride modes: Road and Rain.

This Triumph Is Competing In An Official Custom Bike Contest

This custom Trident Cafe Racer is an official entrant in the Custom Contest 2025 organized by Triumph Motorcycles France, competing against a bunch of other very cool custom motorcycles. This contest invites dealers to customize any Triumph motorcycle without any limitations. They have even allowed the “addition of compressor,” a.k.a. turbocharger or supercharger, in these builds! We wish Triumph America also spearheaded such an initiative to help showcase some kick-ass custom bikes. Imagine a custom cruiser based on the Triumph Rocket 3. Sounds cool, right?
